Thunder Gerbski is usually pretty current on electronic gizmos. I'd PM him. When I wanted a new laptop I reached out and he suggested the one I have. Got it off Costco dot com on one of their deals.

I have a cheapo Bose soundlink in blue... does the trick for me. If I want better sound quality, I'll plug the puter into the Klipsch Promedia 2.0, neither would suit an audiophile, but they're good enough for me.

Just ordered a Sonos Amp today. Going to use it for my outdoor speakers around the pool. Should have a review in a couple weeks.

I can get up to 6 components for 40% off. Brand new. Just trying to figure out what I want to do.

No master of tech but I believe the sonos advantage was that they made the "bridge system" easy & affordable for quality wifi speakers throughout the home.
Technology has advanced now many wifi speakers have bridge technology built in so if you want to stream the same thing from more than a few WiFi speakers at once you're prolly better off with bose now.
But sonos do sound great imo. Just hard to beat bose in any area of comparison.
It's all about the bridge.

Get a real stereo

Have one... don't use it much. Phone, puter... all my music in 2 spots... and streaming.

If you have a real stereo you can get the sonos port to tie that into the system. The Bose system is ok, sound quality wise it is very similar to Sonos. Where Sonos has the edge is in its software and array of products. Its software is extremely easy to use and functions with any phone or tablet operating system simply, as well as voice assistants. I deal with both on a daily basis, and would go with Sonos no question.
