A Capitol Police officer has died from injuries suffered when he was struck in the head with a fire extinguisher. That has ANTIFA written all over it.

They were warned repeatedly. The doors were blockaded with furniture. They continued to break windows and she wasn’t shot until she was the first to try to break through their final line of defense. I wish no one got hurt. This never should have been happening.

If it were my home, or if I was carrying in any other location I’d shoot her too and expect others in here to support that decision. They were not the aggressors. They fled than hid then defended. Pretty standard.

By the way it looks like the police in the rear saw it coming and started to back away. My guess is it was no great surprise given how things were going. Sad. Also sad for the cop killed by the protestors (if that’s what happened...we really don’t know yet). They were in danger.

nobody here wanted them shot...and this was NOT antifa...many of the invaders of the nation's Capitol have been identified as alt-right white nationalists...hopefully they'll be able to identify them all based on video reviews, round them up and prosecute them...

law abiding people wondered where law enforcement officers were during the hours that criminals were ransacking and occupying the nation's Capitol...

I don't think anybody here called for the protestors to be shot...arrested, yes...

if the cop who shot Ms. Babbitt was acting without reasonable cause, he should be held responsible...just as the thug who hit the policeman over the head with a fire extinguisher...

more than 50 police officers were injured during the riot...

Agree with that too delta. The whole reaction needs thorough review to determine if too aggressive or not aggressive enough. Personally with the little bit of info we have now I’d say we didn’t do enough to protect our leadership and have likely emboldened our enimies as a result.

And you don’t have to like our leaders to demand their protection.

not to push any alt-left conspiracy theories, but the question has to be asked, TW...this event was predicted for months...Trump and his boys and other supporters like Rudy Giuliani have been exhorting a large gathering of their peeps for months to attend a rally on Jan 6, for a wild time...

it was all over social media and law enforcement was well aware that a large crowd of armed people were gonna converge on the Capitol...and it become obvious they were not gonna be happy because Trump lost the election and has been bitching and moaning that his victory was stolen...there were several rallies between election day and Jan 6 where Trump supporters gathered to show their support...he's been egging them on...

so to have an inadequate force of law enforcement personnel on hand to prevent the preventable is malpractice...Maryland's governor said his National Guard was standing by, after the invasion of the Capitol buildings, waiting for authorization...which took 1.5 hours to get...

who was in command of the law enforcement effort that is usually established days/weeks before large public gatherings of potentially unruly crowds?

and why weren't there more security measures

I’m not sure how that officer managed to not hit the heavily armed police standing next to her. Kinda looks like the whole situation was coming to an end and it was the last chance to shoot someone.

Just shooting someone in a hallway isn’t going to set an example for future rioters. You need to build gallows in front of the Capitol and have President Biden pull the lever. That sets an example.

Be a better example if they use the cross beam of a soccer goal... gives it that "we just thought of doing this and did it" feel... the gallows gives the impression that the convicted were entitled to a long drawn out trial and several appeals... the goal post gives that "trial by combat" feel...
