WTF???

George Floyd's family gets $27 million in civil case award....

The guy got a raw deal, really...police brutality and murder yes...

But $27 million seems a bit steep to me...

I bet Minneapolis insurance company will drop them like a HOT POTATO AND NO INSURANCE COMPany WILL ever underwrite a policy to THAT CITy ever again...

They will have to go "self insured" after that award $$$$.

All's I know is what the media told me and those 15-30 seconds of the cops knee on his neck with him screaming I can't breath...

Originally George Floyd's death seemed very straight forward to me. That is not the case at all. I doubt I would even be selected as a juror. I simply see no possible way that I could be convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Initially? He acted correctly. As soon as Floyd quit moving he had a duty to see to his welfare. He's not guilty of murder. He's guilty of dereliction of duty. Floyd was in custody and he had a duty to see to his welfare.

Has the media blasted the entire footage now that it's out there? NOPE. Have they tried to correct themselves? NOPE. Have they even admitted a shred of culpability? NOPE.

Once the Feds take a third and the lawyers take a third, then the State will get some of it back,
They'll end up with less than 10mil, blow it in a year or two, plus time to sell off all the crap they bought at severely discounted prices, they should be back to having nothing in about 3 years.
No harm done.

I guess there is no reason for courts. He’s been declared innocent and the dead man guilty by people screaming for the whole story. Isn’t that what the trial is for? Get a grip. Get over the news boogie man. That’s like Hawley claiming to be silenced on multiple networks and platforms.

The drama is fun though.

honestly don't know any of what is being entered here as the facts, but I'm thinking that even if a cop witnesses a murder and catches and cuffs that guy, if the cop presses his knee on the guy's neck for 8 minutes or so and the guy dies, the cop killed him.

Hate the victim all you want. If he really broke laws he should be alive in a prison right now.
Does the accused cop's history mean anything to us? Two bad guys, one cuffed and now dead.
Based on my addled memory, I seem to recall the other cops not supporting what was happening back then.

It is a whole lotta money though...I assume previous awards play a part in that amount...Robert?
