I bought some lock sets at their store in Rolla, MO the 15% rebate sounded pretty good. Since we were just visiting I let my son apply for the rebates.

The store is like an indoor version of Lowes and Home Depot.

Spent a few summers during high school (mid 80's) working (kinda) at Menards. Their first store store he opened was in my hometown and Eau Claire is still the home base.

Connected to his first store was a string of smaller businesses like a small outdoor strip mall. At the end of it was a large open area indoor section where they ran indoor flee markets, car shows, gun shows, antique shows... even some concerts. Eau Claire is right on I-94 about 90 min east of the Twin Cities. When big bands toured the area hitting the the circuit between the Twin Cities, Chicago, Milwaukee the opening bands would sometimes do a stop over in EC to do a quick show. I'd work all these shows doing tickets, emptying trash and stuff like that.

Some shows that I remember were bands like Quiet Riot, Dokken, Tesla... bands like that before they became headliners. Even had Metallica play there when they were opening band for a Dio or Ozzy tour or something like that. They were promoting their Kill 'Em All or Ride the Lightning album. At the other end of the spectrum, I ran the lights when the Chippendales came to town for a two night gig... so I have those images permanently burned in my memory banks too.

I also remember a HUGE fire when part of his pressure treatment plant went poof, that was kinda cool.

They don't bother with the bag thing anymore, just 11% rebate on whatever you buy.

I like menards for some things, others I go to home depot. Lowes is a distant 3rd place. All 3 are in a 1 mile stretch on the same road.

The mail in rebate is a hassle but it's worth it. Just save rebate receipts for a while and send em all at once. I just used $100 worth in rebate gift certificates for a $1k checkout bill and ill get another $100 back.
