Then again I prefer a good lager to ales. Much harder to brew correctly.

Most lagers to me are cleaner and harder to hide off flavors.

Yeah i like the flavor and high abv of ales available. Quadruples, Triples, Imperials, etc. But yeah lagers are a lot harder to brew.

clint,
if you're looking for high ABV lagers stick to Doppelbocks, icebocks, and Baltic Porters.
Of the beers you're listing, sweetness is theme you seem to associate with the styles of ales you like, so Doppelbock is probably what you'ld like.

Shouldn't have any sourness in Helles or Dortmunder/Export. Not appropriate to style at all.. 🍺

Sour isnt the right word. It’s a faint after taste. Can’t place it.

And it is a helles not a dort but I do love dort. It’s a very nice helles. The after taste is the hops (prolly opposite of sour). Can’t describe it but it’s pleasant.

I've been to a lot of parties, If I can't tell the difference between beer and urine, I won't drink it.

I'll take a good porter or stout and/or the occasional .. how you spell it? ... Heffer wizen.. ? with an orange slice.
