So I decided to find a different point of view about a good weight for myself, a well respected sports medicine group. After doing body fat percentage, bone structure, bone density, height, and other specifics I recieved the results today and spoke with them. Basically I need to go from 5% body fat to 7%, and add muscle. They feel I should weigh about 215 lb. This will be easier than loosing weight. Plus even though I thought 185 was ideal my body keeps telling me otherwise.

5% body fat is impressive...that's pro athlete level...

at my best fitness level, 33 years ago in the police academy, I was at 11%

prolly twice that now...you can call me chunky...but ... not chinky

Yeah, but it pays to listen. MACS mentioned a couple of times my weight was to low. He is who got me thinking even though it has been some time from those mentions. Al, I don't ever want to know what % I was at to begin with.

I just recall at the semi-annual fitness tests the Navy would take your height and weight, then they'd measure your waist (around the navel, so they included love handles if you had them) and then they'd measure your neck and calculate it.

I'm only 5' 10" tall. They said I should be around 170, which is why I am shooting for that now.

IIRC you're like 6' 4" or something...? You'ze too light, sucka. Toldja. lol

Sports medicine doctors are at best amateurs at the info they provided you. You really need to see an endocrinologist for the info you seek. It's all about metabolism.

I envy that. With my health issues I had I need to be in the best shape I can be and maintain that level of fitness. Do you know how hard it is to find new vices?
