New York Post: The US and its allies slammed China on Monday for a wide range of “malicious cyber activities” — including a massive hack of Microsoft’s email service earlier this year that exposed the private information of thousands of Americans.

In a scathing statement, the White House accused China of fostering “an intelligence enterprise that includes contract hackers who also conduct unsanctioned cyber operations worldwide,” blaming the country’s Ministry of State Security for everything from ransomware attacks and extortion to cryptocurrency heists and “rank theft.”

And you might remember this from The New York Times on 06/23/2015 - WASHINGTON — Top Obama administration officials admonished China in a bilateral meeting on Tuesday for sponsoring online attacks against businesses, but they remained silent — at least publicly — on the suspected role of Chinese hackers in the recently discovered theft from government computers of personal data on millions of federal employees and contractors.

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., after praising China for some economic and diplomatic actions, suggested that the country was not a “responsible competitor” in cyberspace. “Nations that use cybertechnology as an economic weapon, or profits from the theft of intellectual property,” he said, “are sacrificing tomorrow’s gains for short-term gains today.”

Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew raised the topic more than once at the meeting, known as the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue, saying at one point, “We remain deeply concerned about government-sponsored cybertheft from companies and commercial sectors.”

Secretary of State John Kerry said little publicly on the subject, but he told the visitors that the two sides would have “a very frank discussion of cybersecurity and other ongoing concerns” once they went behind closed doors.

I am sure Xi Jinping is laughing his butt off and quaking in his boots. Now what do you think Biden will do and the answer is NOTHING!

How are we weaker now as a country vs the big orange?

I'm not seeing it.

Especially how when Trump got a piece of juicy information... he bullet pointed it, misspoke it or inadvertently declassified it, called it a joke or said he just kidding, then face palms for all involved.

Even if biden is brain dead, at least he listens to his advisors... bonus points if he forgets what they told him all together.

Can you expand on that thought? I'm no Biden fan... I support him because I'm team America, ride or die, no matter who the coach is.... but that said, I don't particularly like the guy as a person nor did I help him get elected....

All that aside, seems like things have chilled out since Biden got into office... I don't do network news, but I've noticed many foreign leaders had a deep disdain for Trump that they don't seem to have for Biden... I know Trump was often the laughingstock in foreign press whereas Biden tends to be seen as a bit of a figurehead...

Not judging your point of view or attacking it, just curious where you're seeing it from.... seems to me the mere fact that our president doesn't tweet has in and of itself calmed things significantly, both at home and abroad...

China slams US hacking charges

BEIJING — China on Tuesday rejected an accusation by Washington and its Western allies that Beijing is to blame for a hack of the Microsoft Exchange email system and complained Chinese entities are victims of damaging U.S. cyberattacks.
A foreign ministry spokesman demanded Washington drop charges announced Monday against four Chinese nationals accused of working with the Ministry of State Security to try to steal U.S. trade secrets, technology and disease research.
The announcement that the Biden administration and European allies formally blame Chinese government-linked hackers for ransomware attacks increased pressure over long-running complaints against Beijing but included no sanctions.
