NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Thursday that the NFL sent a memo to its clubs stating that if a game cannot be rescheduled during the 18-week schedule due to a COVID-19 outbreak among unvaccinated players, the team with the outbreak will forfeit and be credited with a loss, per sources informed of the situation.

If true this is a bridge to far.

Making players responsible for their own actions - or in this case, inaction - sounds pretty reasonable to me.

I don't think so. This is irresponsible greed. Either mandate employee vaccinations or not. But don't be a hypocrite. If you do not mandate vaccination then ethically you cannot mete out punishment for following your rules. This is hey, we want the best players playing so we can make maximum profits, but let's dupe the fans if we have to skip a game.

They can't mandate but can make things much different (i.e., harder / much more restrictive) for those that aren't vs. those that are.

Yes, they can. Many hospitals are doing that right now. There are a few rules of what people they cannot enforce the mandate with.
