Impressive both for the track list as well as the fact it was only a few months after the death of Bon Scott.
Favorite Track: Hells Bells

1983 - Metallica Kill 'Em All
So much speed coming out of the gate for the now classic thrash rockers, it took a few albums for them to start stumbling. The early Megadeth feel is apparent given the number of tracks Mustaine shares writing credit on.
Favorite Track: Motorbreath

I was amazed, I thought loosing Bon would be the end of them. Interesting fact, Bon Scott found Brian Johnson and wanted the band to see him and consider adding him to the band.

It's not often you can manage a lead singer shift without the fan base losing their chit, even given the circumstances

Both albums are in regular rotation. I personally think Kill 'em All was one of Metallica's best.

Phantom Lord... Four Horsemen... toss up. I like every song, though.

Megadeth, IMO, is equal to if not better. Dave is definitely a better song/music writer. Cryptic Writings is just melt your face awesome.

Van Halen was great even after switching lead singers…..

Hadn't heard this before. Not my favorite Smokey Robinson work.

1969 - Johnny Cash A Boy Named Sue

Recorded at San Quentin in February. Apparently written by Shel Silverstein. I did not know that. Though it does kind of have that cadence to it upon reflection.

1979 - The Clash I Fought the Law

Used to love this as a kid when Pops would play it on the piano for me. He hated it (the song itself. Pretty sure he actually got a kick out of me taking an interest). I think it was the repetition in both song structure and requests from his kid. Sheet music was the Bobby Fuller Four version, though admittedly not a lot of difference between the two versions

Cryptic Writings is the 7th studio album by Megadeth. Released June 17th, 1997.

1973 - New York Dolls self titled debut
I never dug too deeply into these guys. Prolly should correct that at some point. I am familiar with a few tracks through some of my punk meanderings.
Favorite track: Personality Crisis (To be fair, it's the one I know the best)

1984 - Metallica Ride the Lightning
Sophomore effort felt more complex while continuing to kick much azz. Lightning would be my favorite if I didn't love Masters so dam much.
Favorite Track: Fade to Black

2018 - Halestorm Vicious
While I love some of the tracks from the early albums, I appreciate this one for keeping a heavy tone throughout the majority of it.
Favorite track: Uncomfortable or Do Not Disturb. I don't have a coin on me to flip

Quick...tell me the 3 songs that Van Hagar had that were harder rocking than "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love", "Outta Love Again" and "Unchained"???

While I'll give up they charted better with Sammy, they surrendered the Hard Rock category for Pop.


I'll listen to it all, don't get me wrong...but I can't name a song outside of "Finish What Ya Started" that I ever want to hear again. With that said, I think Roth would've done that song better. I'll even offer an "olive branch"...I'd like to see what Sammy could've done with "Women In Love'...oh well.

Now...Dio over Ozzy...let's talk about that.

That is a damned great album! It pushed me over the edge from Metallica to Megadeth!

Dio could rock harder and is all around a more talented artist, BUT for Sabbath front man I'll always take Ozzy. His voice fit better with the creepy doom & gloom overtones.

Apparently missed Highway to Hell yesterday. I need to refine my search technique.

1975 - Black Sabbath Sabotage
Good album. Not my favorite, but I appreciated the return to what I think of as their original sound after some of the experimenting on Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Not to disparage an artist's desire to experiment, but I like what I like

2017 - Alice Cooper Paranormal
To be honest, I haven't listened to it, nor any Cooper really beyond the late 80s early 90s.
Favorite Track: Under my Wheels (Bonus track loophole utilized)

I literally wore out 2 highway to hell albums.

I have to go with Paranoid.

1965 - The Beatles Help (Film - UK Premier)

2016 - Viola Beach self titled premier
I'm not familiar with them but an ungodly tragic story. 6 months prior to this, the entire band plus manager died in a car crash in Sweden. Upon release the album premiered at #1 in the UK

If you have not heard it, try King Crimson, In the court of King Crimson. I have mostly listened to ZZ Top today, Prolly half of the albums. It was pretty good music to put up the greenhouse steel to. I put a playlist together for putting in the glass tomarrow. First up Crazy Train.

King Crimson is a good listen.
