There used to be a fella called “Hmhaines” (Harvey) who made ashtrays from railroad ties or any other scrap metal that was laying around his shop, the Purple Barn. He sent me one that must be about 10” x 4” x 2” and easily weigh close to 15 lbs.! I think, if he wanted to, he could have sold his ashtrays as a regular item but it seemed like he gifted or traded them here instead. Harvey was a good guy, miss him.

I also won an auction for an ashtray that tmctlt/Paul made. It is 11 inches square and 2 inches tall. Each side has a cigar rest notched in the middle. He used a hard wood, possibly walnut. The bottom is a mosaic of cigar bands covered with glass. It really is a work of art. I use it when there are a few of us herfing in the man cave.
