I'm probably over thinking, but I'm curious what brand butane y'all use. Right now I've just got a 4 dollar gas station torch that's getting empty. Xikar, colibri, neon 11x, vector, st Dupont, etc? Will it really matter for a cheap torch? I'm sure in a more expensive lighter it would.

So. What do you use?

Bought a case of Lava 5X years ago and still using it. Never had any issues running it through my DuPont MaxiJet.

If you purge occasionally even a cheap lighter won't have issues.

Currently, Whip it. British stuff. Very polite.

FYI if you run a search, there was a thread on this not too long ago

Zippo or Ronsol.

Probably have about 10+ different lighters- some junk, some fine, and my every day ones.

They all do fine w/out all the 3-15x filtered, overpriced crap and I can buy one anywhere- even the grocery store- whenever I need to.

(I could be treated like a heretic on this issue.)

+1 and you can add Vector too. I use oversized torch-style lighters to heat thread locking materials, shrink heat shrinking, and fire polishing 3D printed plastic. They all have worked fine for me.

My search foo must be weak, I did a search for butane and nothing came up. Google even only had stuff from 2010 ish

Trust in the Google. Be one with the Google.

Try "best butane fuel for torch lighter." That brought up a best 5 from '21, a recommendation for either Xicar or Dupont from the tenski place (competing cigar site), a best 23 from '22, and a YouTube review of best 9 from '19.

As for the thread I referenced, I'm not the best forum searcher and it's still a little early out in the middle of the Pacific.

Aha. Now that I'm figuring out how to navigate the forums on my phone, I see like 3 butane threads in like the top 7 posts in the cigar section.

Now... I've got to figure out the answer to another question... Hopefully before I win a lot 😅

Yeah, that Pacific reference I made earlier? That's Palama. He topped a few related posts for ya

I see that now 😂 well anyway, add another one to the list I guess.

I guess I'll just ask my dumb question here. I'm bidding on a 10 count sampler pack, when it says price per unit, is that per pack or per stick? Some I see are definitely for the whole box/pack, but this one works out to be MSRP per stick. Wouldn't really make sense to bid on a lot by stick price, but I just don't want to be surprised(but totally fair, I bid, and if that's the way it is, I'm ok with it)

The description is key. If the description says 10 count, per unit bid is the whole 10. Same for 5 pack, singles, full boxes/bundles. If the description says 5 pack and the picture is of a full box, the lot is a five pack.

I see you compare to MSRP. That puts you ahead of several bidders out there. It's also a good idea to open a window to a similar retail offering on the mothership site to compare against your bid.

Ok that's kinda what I thought. The deception does say a 10 pack sampler. I just wanted to be surprised by a charge on my card for 10 times my bid price, which would be an odd way to do it, but I could also see an argument for it. Thanks, I really didn't want to waste a whole post for that 😅

No need for butane. Plenty of methane to heat a small village and still light a box of cigars.

I think it was burner02 who works in the oil and gas refinery industry, once explained that the 5x 10x 1000000x is all bull****.
