All about the same just look at warranties and look at reviews for service on authorized dealers for service responses in your area.

Do all 3 have authorized repair companies near you, and are they factory trained on the unit you will be installing? Are you installing a high efficiency unit? Are the warranties comprable? Have you read online reviews about all 3? Have you checked avaliable information from consumer reports? Those all would be on my pre-purchase check list.

I have no input on the companies other than all three are well respected names.

I went Lennox. Not because of any research, mind you... but because the company I chose to do my HVAC replacement uses Lennox, and rebrands it as theirs.

So far so good.

When I had my previous natural gas furnace replaced, they put a Carrier in. Worked really well until I sold my house.
What kind of A/C unit do you have ? I'm assuming even Cheeseheads need relief in the summertime, but if you have one, and are satisfied with it, you may want to match brands.

Appreciate the recommendations and the many points of inquiry. Will dive back into this one once all three of the companies review our current state and write up the proposals.

The dealers representing Carrier and Lennox have been presented. Trane next Wednesday.

Spey- a lot there. In short, the are all authorized dealers for their products. Am in process of doing the deeper dig you suggest.

At least three different options as to the operation of the furnaces. On/Off, Two Stage, Three Stage which is always on, moving air around. Also some other voodoo with multiple speeds, settings, sub-settings and expense.

One of them suggested like-for-like systems across all manufacturers.

As far as ratings, it's kind of the perfect storm.
Trane equipment gets the best reviews. The local Trane dealer has the least favorable reviews.
Not find much at all on Lennox, other than they have a relationship with Costco, so there is that.
Best reviews are for the local installer of Carrier but not much in online chatter one way or another on that.

It will all work out in the end.

I put in a Carrier Infinity system when we needed to replace ours. Needed to replace both units in an older home - they were 18 and 24 years old. The Carrier dealer had the best local service and most knowledgeable team. Had an incident about 4 months after install and Carrier picked up all the labor and materials under warranty. I would steer my choice to the best local support team as many of the units now are similar.

Hvac buddy swears by Armstrong. It's what he put in his house, so that's what went in mine. At least the ac side. Still need to replace the furnace but my repairs seem to be holding up for now.

Lennox is among the very best. Doing the deal through Costco is cheapest. Plus, they will refund you gift cards. And, if you use a Costco credit card, you will get money back from them at the end of the year, and one additional year extension of the manufacturer's warranties.

I put in the best variable speed, dual (compressor and blower fan) A/C with a heat pump and heater. It was worth every penny since we have live here long enough (4 years) to make up for the extra price of the unit with reduced power bills and constant/instantaneous, micro adjustments to the speeds of the moving parts.

Sure it was a lot more than a simple one-stage unit, but the difference between the two was amazing and if you plan to be in your house a while and can swing it, it will pay for itself. I recommend the same (adapted to your climate).

The Lennox/Costco guy was nice enough to write up the estimate for "now" and also for one dated two weeks later- when the Costco special moves the discount from 10 to 15%. Just reminded/warned me to not buy until the offer date.

Somethin to consider... I purchased a heatpump with a dual-fuel furnace.. got a rebate from the electric company for da heatpump but run my furnace on natural gas (emergency heat mode) all winter.. 😟

I think we'd all be better off if we never saw another Powerpoint again.
