Trying to decide between a Denon DCD-600NE and a NAD C538. Close enough, price wise (...Denon is $30 more...) and spec-wise but don't have any prior experience with either brand.

I went with Denon when I pieced my system together. Can't recall the exact model right this second, but went with it after an extensive perusing of various reviews of different brands and models with a focus on performance and reliability.

About 5yrs in and it's worked out well so far. Runs 2 tower speakers, 4 satellites, a center channel, and 2 subwoofers with no issues. Also had a wide array of input options for various devices

Oops. I didn't pay attention to detail. All my babbling was relative to a receiver/amp. I can't speak to CD player specifically.

I've got all Pioneer stuff from the late 80's, paired with Bose 601's. Everything still works.

I've heard only positive things about Denon. Not familiar with the other brand.

I did have a fleeting thought of getting an older (..."vintage"...) Sony CD player (CDP-508ES) from eBay since I was very comfortable with the construction, controls and programming but nixed it after really thinking it through. I mean, what's the point of getting an old player with old technology and parts that will, not may, be an issue at some point in time? Better to just go new.

Pulled the trigger and ordered the Denon from Crutchfield. They weren't the cheapest but my friend's firsthand experience with their CS tipped the scales and I figured it was worth the extra $30. Didn't get the extended warranty though...maybe I should have? 🤔

Ram "CAN" TELL YOU where to find cheap( i.e. free building materials.... usually at construction sites at night, he also likes to jog in khakis like curious DUECES in rich neighborhoods) and he can find cheap CAO ITALIAS WIT'
