While I have absolutely no problem with a stroke victim (or a victim of any other medical issue) being an elected official, I think we need to be serious about whether the impediments the candidate suffers from truly does impair his ability to perform the job. I mean, no one is going to give a blind man a job as a truck driver.
Roosevelt was in a wheelchair, but mobility on his feet was not a key element of his job as President.
I feel like being able to meet with constituents, debate topics, broker deals, etc. (Congressional duties) all require one to be able participate in group discussions and provide timely responses, etc.
Honestly, this feels a lot like the D's just don't want to concede to the R's in this race so they would keep a brown paper bag in the running just to field a candidate and continue slinging mud.
