We have decided to do a ham for Christmas dinner. My question is...

Bone in or boneless ham. Both have plusses and minuses.

Here's the scenario:

- It will be a small gathering, maybe 5 or 6 people.
- I'm not planning on making soup so a bone is not really needed.
- I do like leftovers to make for lunches and stuff
- Bone in is cheaper although it is not a driver of the decision.

I'm kinda on the fence. I will not vote my preference so I do not poison the well. It's an open discussion.

What is your preference? What say you? Bone in or boneless based on the above variables?

I’mma not a big ham fan but prefer bone-in ‘cause it’s generally more moist and imo, tastier.

I agree. Also just like with a steak you get tender, tastier meat closer to the bone

When I was a youngster, we would visit family in Germany (we were the first (and only) immigrants to America on either side of my parents’ families)

We were not well to do……….a bit of an understatement.
One of the staple dinners was….
“Black” bread slice, covered with a sharp mustard, Swiss cheese slices, sliced ham, thick cut tomato slices, generously sprinkled with salt and pepper………..this is eaten open faced with knife and fork.
Side dish was a cucumber/potato salad.

Still one of my favorite meals….
