So about 8-9 years ago I gave up cigars on the advice of my cardiologist. I had a 25-35% blockage and his reasoning was nicotine causes arteries to contract. Even if you don’t inhale the nicotine enters the blood stream from the blood vessels in one’s mouth. By smoking I was further causing blood flow to be restricted.

Back then I had one of those 6.5’ tall humidors that hold 2-3,000 cigars which was about 1/3 - 1/2 full. I sold it along with the bulk of my cigars. I kept about 100 for special occasions.

For some odd reason I kept a fiver of LFD Ligero’s even though I wasn’t particularly in love with them. I figured that since the were about as full flavored as anything offered then or now eventually they may mellow into something I’d enjoy. Well after lying dormant for 8-10 years I’m very pleasantly surprised at how they turned out. The one I’m smoking at the moment though certainly still full-flavored is smooth and lacks the bite I remember them having.

Goes to show that some cigars are better when aged for a long time before being turned to ash. My only regret is not having bought 3-4 boxes when I bought the fiver.

I’ve got a box of don pepin originals from 2016. I’ll be sad when they’re gone. Wish every manufacturer put dates on the box

Good read there, Palama. Looks like they’re aging an Eastern Standard. Maybe hoping to get some flavor out of it in the future?

If this is a hijack, I will happily delete this post. I’m wondering what you guys make of this:

Too bad the Pepin blue and black labels aren’t what they used to be…and yes LFD do age very well in general.
