Looking for experience and insights on the best cigar factory tours from this group's travels. I'm thinking of a week or so trip to Honduras or the DR (or somewhere similar) and including a tour or two during the trip. Thank you!

Well, sorry you didn't get any hits.

I've never done a tour. I was going to do one when I was in the DR, but then realized that for the good ones, you need to book plenty in advance. Like, a couple of months. That's the only advice I have - book well in advance.

I'm going on a cruise out of Tampa in sept. When we get back I'm going to the JC Newman factory. I never realized Tampa is a cigar town. Apparently its the oldest family owned factory in the US.. I'm stoked , going to grab some Diamond Crowns while I'm there

The Fuente Chateau is in the DR. I didnt go, because it was too far from the resort I went to but I would imagine it is rad.

I always wanted to tour La Aurora or La Flor Dominicana, but I wouldn't be able to talk the wife into vacationing in Santiago, and it's like a 4hr drive from Punta Cana

She probably wouldn’t mind if you traveled solo, right?

FYI only 8/10’s of a mile away is a small shop named Tampa Sweethearts. It run by 4th and 5th generation members of the Fuente (Arturo Fuente) family. If you’re lucky you may have the opportunity for a one on one chat with one of them.

In addition you stand a better than average chance of finding some rare and HTF Fuente cigars.

Puro Sabor.

It's an annual cigar festival in Nicaragua every January. Cost is about 2500 includes lodging, meals, ground transportation, factory and plantation tours, and all the cigars you can smoke for 5 days. The only other expense is your flight.

You can choose what factories to visit and on what days. Not everyone does the same thing. The parties and meals that the factories put on are incredible.

My favorite part is you get to blend your own cigar. Then they roll 10 of them and give u a custom box of your blend.

When I did a Caribbean cruise with my son a few years ago, I looked into the Fuente factory since we were stopping at the DR. Logistically it didn't make sense as the distance from the port to the factory was like a 3 hour one way drive. With only 7.5 - 8 hours to use, we'd be rushed and unable to fully experience the factory and relax with a good cigar, so we visited a sea themed amusement park instead. Cool place.
