I tried to smoke a Caldwell - The Last Tsar, and I could immediately tell from the first puff that it was not even close to being the same as previous versions. It was a complete airball. I took 2 or 3 more puffs and ditched it. Anybody else experience this? Whether you like the flavor of them or not, at least they had flavor. This one was a nothing.

I noticed that the band was different too. The original bands were very off-white, maybe beige, and there was a secondary band that said "East is Everywhere," whatever TF that's supposed to mean. The band on this 5pack was regular white, and there was no secondary band. I kept looking for some indication that this was a line extension, kinda like a Marlboro Lite (with less flavor). I bought this 5ver on tenski, 11/24/23.

I'm pretty bummed about it. I really liked these before now. Maybe I'll try one of the others from the 5pack before ditching them.

I often wonder what cigar companies think when they decide to buy a label…..

Can anyone name a transfer of ownership that’s resulted in a BETTER cigar?

I didn't know this about the company being sold, but I don't think they get to blame it on that. I bought the cigars last November before the sale earlier this year. They just F-ed up. I'm seriously hoping it was just a dud.

If I could be sure that I was getting the older version, I would buy a bunch now. The problem is that all of the pictures of this cigar for sale show the old band style, even on tenski, which is clearly not what they have.
