Then there was the time during the 1964 World Series (way before I was born) where he was in the outfield shagging fly balls during batting practice. There were a couple Dixeland bands playing pregame music. He borrowed a tuba from one of the band members and used it to shag fly balls. He had to pay the tuba guy back for the dents in the instrument.

No human being has brought more Joy per their time on earth than Bob Uecker.
We knew we were on borrowed time a couple decades ago. Time has finally come.
So disappointing. Tough day in Wisconsin.

I'd say he's on the same level or a step above another Hall of Fame announcer - Cubs announcer Harry Caray.

I'm obviously biased but I'd put Uecker a step above Caray.

I didn’t know a whole lot about Bob other than the Miller Lite commericals but right around then I found out that he had played for the Cardinals so that instantly raised him up a few levels. Of course his appearances in the “Major League” movie franchise are legendary.

He is very definitely "in the front row..." RIP Mr. Uecker
