I have many empty boxes that I've been holding on to but they are in the way. What do you all do with your empty boxes? I know clock making is popular. I use boxes for storing accessories and such, but I still have many empty boxes taking up space. They're not great for kindling. I wonder if they're recyclable. Seems a shame to throw away such pretty boxes. I'm going to check if the senior center wants them, but I suspect they already have all they need.

Sometimes I refill them. Sometimes I throw em out. Sometimes I save em to store things in.

I decorate with the nice ones. The ones that are not as nice get burnt in the fire pit while I'm smoking.

ive started saving just the lids and burning the rest in the firepit when sitting outside with a cigar. i plan to use the lids and create a backdrop/wall for decoration once i have enough to fill the space i am working with. its getting tricky as it is like a game of Tetris getting them all to fit without any odd sized holes. if i end u with small odd sizes i may add a small shelf in that space to hold a few of the lighters or cutters i have worth displaying or other cigar related merch.

I used to be able to give them away to friends who were just starting to get into cigars but eventually they had enough and were buying boxed of cigars too. Used a few to consolidate singles but maxed that out. Eventually hafta figure out what to do with my autographed boxes…mostly Pete Johnson and Jon Huber.

My loco actually SELLS them unless you buy a box or the last one in a box and ask. I brought the manager a few they didn’t sell once and he gave me an Opus box I’d asked about.

I use the more sturdy ones to store singles, 5 packs, 10 packs in them. I also bust them up and use the sections in my tuperdors and winedor to work as a humidity buffer. Some are used to toss pocket change into and other random stuff.

The less than desirable ones get tossed out or used for kindling in the fire pit.

I got a really nice looking three string guitar made with a "God of Fire, Serie B, 2010" box. Bur made it for me...





a few years ago, I imagined a project to use the boxes I had. The idea was to use the logos from the lids to create a mosaic. I planned to cut the logos from the lids of the boxes into rectangles and squares, depending on their shapes and dimensions. Then I would fit the squares and rectangular pieces together, like a puzzle, abutting them next to each other. I'd arrange them by color, into a sort of tapestry onto a wall in the man cave. So far, I've got a loose collection of more than 120 box lids, waiting to be cut. Using just the lids, the remainder of the box would be tossed into the compostable waste, if suitable.

I've stalled at the amount of wall space to devote to the box lid tapestry...decisions, decisions...

I fire it most of them and keep some pretty ones🙂

A guy I know makes cigar size ashtrays out of them. He gave me one and I use it so next be a good idea. 🙂
