On to Bauza… I love these cigars as you will see from previous posts but I found it pretty easy to match them up with some other cigars that cost less. There are 3 in particular that I feel are better smokes for the money: Cuesta-Rey Pyramid No.9, CAO Brazilia, Fittapaldi. I’ll spend time on the Cuesta-Rey and the CAO. By now I think everyone in this forum has tried the Fittapaldi line of cigars. If not go try them. They are very tasty.

Cuesta-Rey Pyramid No.9 – A well made cigar (in all honesty a cut below Bauza in this area, wrappers tend to be too veiny) Aroma is wonderfully sweet with very smooth creamy taste. I had to list this cigar as the first time I had one I thought this is just like a Bauza Pyramid. The Cuesta-Rey possessed two distinct advantages over the Bauza. One, being the price at $2 less a stick and more subtly this cigar’s ability to hold flavor to the last inch of the cigar without getting bitter. If you like a medium bodied cigar and enjoy the Bauza line, try the Cuesta-Rey Pyramid No.9.

Wany is dead-on with this one ... although it is a Fuente/Newman product.

I've tried Bauza pyramids and robustos and several sizes of Cuesta Rey, but not the pyramid. I liked them all but don't see the similarities, except in excellent construction, which I credit to Fuente. The Bauza is very spicy. The Cuesta Rey wasn't and had a dry, papery taste. I've found the Bauza close to $3 but never less. The Sosa, another Fuente roll, falls somewhere between them. BTW, wanyburger, these are a really great threads.

mhollowa --- the Cuesta-Rey Pyramid No. 9 is, I think, the best in the line ... especially with a little age on them.
