I usually start at the lower end of the quality/expense spectrum and then move up throughout the day. In other words, save the best for last.

Yesterday I made the mistake of starting with one of my better cigars (Habanos Monte #4) and had to follow it with Opus and PAMs and finally a Partagas SDN #3 EL. It made for an expensive cigar day.

Maybe Ricks got the right idea with the Bad Frogs and the like. It's cheaper and easier to move up from those.

When you know it will be a multiple cigar day, how do you arrange your smoking order?

I usually don't smoke more than one a day, but if I know Im going to I'll go from low to high... If you smoke the high quality first, then the lower quality will be a letdown.

And perhaps stating the obvious here. I like to have milder smokes earlier in the day (St Louis Ray natural, or a La Diva). Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your perspective, that's about all I have for milder smokes! I just looked and virtually my whole collection is more of a Pamala Anderson "full body" nature.

Robby,A Pam Anderson full bodied cigar must be an implanted full bodied taste,LOL.
BTW,on Superbowl sunday I started with a Habanos Monte Milleniun Robusto and then followed it with an Original Cubans Belicoso. I have to tell ya,I was expecting to OCB to stink after that great cigar but it wasn't bad at all.
Barry how are those PSD#3's? X

I must admit to having smoked what I believe to be a fauxhibia or two. And some may have been genuine but just sucked. They have some well known quality control issues. But anyone who's had a real and good ISOM must agree they're a unique and special treat. I take offence, nay umbrage at the aspersions you cast at my habanos sir! Why if you were here, I would pick up a glove and slap you hard across the face and step outside to defend the besmirched honor of my ploomidoor!

X,
I really like the Partagas DN3 EL. Very rich and full bodied, complex, smooth smoke and flavor (spicey, cedary, nutty ). The 2 I've smoked both had excellent draw and burn. I can't imagine how good they'd be if you could let them age a couple more years. I only had a few to try and am saving the last one. From what I understand, they are already out of production (hence the E.L.), so if you want them and can find them get them while they're hot.

I decide order based on body. From mild, mild-medium, medium, medium-full, full and from full-kick my ass.

My drinks for the day are based on the same order.

Usually, I have 5-6 good smokes with me. Whatever looks good at the time I smoke. I stopped taking chances on dog-rockets and only experiment on the advice of trusted advisors. So I look forward to smoking every cigar that I have. I never feel that I'm "settling" for a cigar. They don't have to be expensive either, though some are.

I go from high to low. I want to get the full taste of the good cigar and not any aftertaste of a low end gar interfering.

I think hedgemonic may have a better idea, all should be good smokes maybe different levels of potency. Wouldn't want to smoke dog rocket fouling my taste buds before smoking a Perdomo. Also too think better to match the cigar to the drink or meal.

If I go more than a cigar or two a day (rare lately); I tend to gauge my cigar based upon time, more then taste. If I have an hour or so to smoke one, then I can look a the 7X50. If I am going inside soon, but have time for a quickie, I can get a 'lil CAO, or mac mini or something like that. I can't think of a situation where I am not outdoors all day, where I can just take a cigar anywhere I am going.

Even at sporting events, horse shows, races, or just sightseeing, there is a rare time where a big cigar won't get in the way of what I am doing. I rather keep my smoking to a minimum and have that one or two nice evening smokes when things are slowed down and there is time to enjoy it.

Hey Ray, you smoke a 7 x 50 in an hour. Holy $hit!! That's fast... I'll go about 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hrs. on one of those babies.
If we have an Olympic Speed Smoking team, you should try out!!! LOL

I smoked an Epicure, Cuban Parejo, the other day (6X62) and it lasted me an hour and 30 minutes or so! Wow, what a smoke!

But regarding multiple cigar days, like to start out with milder cigars and move up to the real full bodied jobs! The aforementioned Cuban Parejo is just that-full bodied! Also like Partagas Black Label, Bucaneros, CAO Brazila's for the full bodied thrill!

Hell, I like them all, whoops, sorry Bad Frogs and the like are out!
