I need opinions from those who have access to Cuban cigars. IF you could buy two boxes today, what would they be? I'm leaning towards Bolivar Belicosos Finos and Montecristo #2, my third choice, if money allowed would be Partagas Series D #4. Anybody out there with RECENT experience in purchasing Habanas?

depends on your tastes. if you enjoy full bodied sticks then Bolivars are at the top. i prefer Monte #2 followed by Romeo y Julieta Churchills. also enjoy Punch. as for pricing look at $275 for #2, R & J bout $250, and Bolivars round $260-280

Lately I've had the Cohiba Esplendidos and Montecristos #4. The Cohibas were wonderful. Rich and creamy. The Montecristos were too mild for my taste. Bland is a better description.

Hog. My contact this time is coming straight from Havana. I don't know what company he's making the purchase from, I only know it to be a factory store. He tells me the Monti #2s are hard to find, but he found me a box for $120. I couldn't believe how cheap they are. I paid $360 a few years back in Germany. He also tells me the Cohiba Esplendidos are about a hundred bucks. You're right about different countries having vast price differences. Excluding Cubana, I've found Spain to have the cheapest habanas. As for the ATF guys...they've been cool to me. Treat 'em with a little respect and they return the favor.

I would add Upmann #2 to the list. Partagas Lusitania's would be a decent choice too. It is hard to go wrong with any legit Cubans IMO.

BTW, jcrimmins, sorry to hear about your fake Cubans. Better luck next time.

The ISOM's I had weren't fakes. I have a rock solid connection. The Montecristo #4's were weak. I have to differ with you, not everything from Cuba is good. If you do get a good Cuban, nothing is better.

I don't think these are real cigars from the factory. The prices are too cheap. There are posted prices in Cuba on all Cuban cigars (go to www.cigarnexus.com). Anyone who is buying cigars in Cuba for less is buying fakes.

http://www.cigars-review.org , the site gives you many reviews on a large selection. But keep in mind that your perception can be different.

Of all the ones I've had most all were good. But the only 2 brands that were just OUT OF THIS WORLD were the hoyo and Cohiba. Never had Monty but I usually here Cohiba and Monty #2. But I've had a few dif hoyo and they are unreal. IMO

La Casa del Habano is the only official no worries retailer the world over including in Cuba. Just as an aside what JFK do the day before signing the ban, he had his people score 1,200 so the ban would not affect him.

Almost all of the fresh Partagas are smoking well. So in that regards I might go with a PSD4, Lusi, 898, or maybe PSP2. BBF's are always great smokes and same for Monte 2's. Maybe some CoRo's if you wanted to spend the extra money and age them for a little bit.
