While I dislike Kerry, and think he is full of crap, he is an American war hero and should be given a little respect.

To soldier, my knee jerk reaction is YES, but would in not then open the flood gates for every non citizen to join the service to get their citizenship?

What would be the criteria? Four years of service PLUS combat duty? Will the ACLU jump in for the ones not having combat duty and demanding they are given equal status?
