Shall I start one? Limit it to a certain number of people? Certain number of pulls? I have some questions and reservations but would like to do one.

Reservations-

Authenticity
hard to trade year for year - I don't think people have huge CC collections, could be wrong
Sticks that are from the "bad years" aka 99-01, not saying all are bad but many are

Please weigh in on your thoughts and if we go ahead with it I'll put a list together of my sticks for the pass and who shall be in it as well as some rules.

I know there is another thread on this but it's turned into a different discussion.

It could work, but the drawback I have is I am fairly new to CC's and my collection so far is limited to ''newer'' sticks for the most part, some I have not even tried because of what others have said about them not being ready. I wouldn't want to trade any that weren't ''ready''. Another thing is the authenticy issue, I have a good amount from trades here and other places and some, well I just have doubts on some.

How about a CC/HTF pass instead?

Given thatmost don't necessarily have a large CC collection though I know a few here do...

Just thinking more people could participate that way.

I have participated in a few Cuban box passes over the years and would suggest that it either be limited to only those who have their own knowledge and experience or combined with very premiums. CC for CC and premium for premium only with the puts and takes ok'ed by the OP in advance.

The only way this kind of pass works well is if all Cuban cigars can be cataloged with their date codes otherwise you could be taking apples and putting oranges. Those who have obtained their stash through trades and gifts may or may not know what they have.

Really enjoyed participating in RAHs cigar pass, a CC pass sound like a good idea. Although I do think it would be a better idea to do a CC/HTF pass instead as not many have a big collection of CC like nnightmar suggested. Although if you do choose to just do a CC pass Im down for that too.

Have 4-5 I can "Put" and confirm Box Codes/Dates from a recent multi-box split. Would that be enough to participate? Would need help with compatible "Takes" as I'm not well versed in all the CC's.

Yep, you can always pm me with questions. Granted I'm far from a CC expert but I'll do the research to figure it out if I havn't already.

Also I would keep the pass limited to a mediumish size to keep shipping down because in some cases I think there might be trades of only 2-3 instead of the more "usual" 5 or so. I don't want people trading 2 cigars and paying a ton in shipping.

After a lot of thinking I'm hesitant to start this pass. I think there are so many fakes out there and unless you do a lot of research online about the cigars and bands, etc. it could get sketchy. Someone ease my mind or I might have to cancel this or pass it on to someone else.

I once thought this was a good idea as well, but what DED said in post 6 is very real, as are the number of fakes floating around out there.

The only way I would ever do one of these is if I knew and had dealt with all the participants, and they'd all been sourcing their own purchases, and had boxcodes to provide (again, like what DED mentioned).

Passes are intended to be fun however, an u may very well have a list of participants here willing to proceed knowing all that. I'm sure cigars new to each could still be tried...and likely fakes wouldn't even find their way into the boxpass.... Ya just never know.

I passed on this simply due to time, and life getting in the way. And if I want smokes anymore these days, I'll just buy em. But, I'm trying my best to just smoke what I already have. So far, so good.

Good luck with the pass though, and I do hope it works out. I'll certainly follow the thread should that happen.
