Got my shipping confirmation for my Morados. Shipped UPS and arrived in the early morning hours at my UPS hub, but instead of being "out for delivery" like they should be, they are being held for delivery later this week by USPS. WTF!? Oh well, as long as CI saved a blasted dime on my $150 order, I guess it's worth this BS. ram27bat

Why blame CI? They did their job. Blame the post office. Why not UPS, you're probably only a few miles from UPS in Lawnside.

I live on NJ NY border near NYC and CBid ships UPS down to Lawnside and then it comes back up north. 95% of the time I get next day delivery. Be a Roman and kill the messenger and not the sender.

Blame CI because instead of ground shipping, they used UPS mail innovations or whatever it's called to save a buck on delivery charges.

^oh and I was wondering why mine shows a delivery date of Saturday when UPS doesnt run then. Can't be mad, it usually takes longer via ground from CI.

how far away is the warehouse? I have picked up two of my order when half-wit UPS divers could not find my addy. Think antique morados need to sit at lower humidity for a while any way.

I called this morning and asked if I could pick them up, as Lawnside is 5 minutes away. I was told that they had already been turned over to USPS, and there was nothing they could do about it.

I find it strange that CBid, selling sticks for far less then CI does, sends orders UPS and I get them next day. CI, selling sticks for far more, uses this lame UPS Mail Innovations system, just to save a few cents. If it was free shipping, I wouldn't complain, but when I'm being charged, then I find this disturbing.

I've had one delivery that was UPS to USPS to me... Odd. Took an extra day. So, for me, that's a full week "on the truck."

CI doesn't have over-bidders to cover their overhead.

I’m well aware of this, as from previous experience, these older sticks usually arrive sopping wet. Just wanted to be the first to check these out, so I could let all those who ordered them know if they are truly the real deal, or not. Oh, well, patience is a virtue, right?

I should have mine in a few hours.

Tracking shows on UPS truck and out for delivery.

Here's what to look for, Chris.

Purple painted, hinge top box with silver print.
Two individually divided cedar trays.
Cedar sleeve and purple foot ribbon.
Sharp, clear band with black border (CI's is fuzzy and lacks the black border).

Oh, and if these are really from '07, they shouldn't have the "93 rated" labels (one outside, one inside) as I'm pretty sure they got the rating in '08. Then again, I could be wrong on that.

Dp- the same thing is happening to me when I order from CI. My last 3 or 4 orders. Must be a shipping deal they have agreed to.

Folks - if you choose Free Shipping or the Saver method ($4.95) , it ships UPS Surepost which is a combination of UPS and the Postal Service. If you choose UPS, for $7.95, it ship UPS Ground. You have that option.

If it was just a few cents, we wouldn't do it. After 17 years in the business, we had to come up with something that was cost-effective since shipping costs have become outrageous.

I'm truly sorry if it doesn't work for you and its hard to believe but it works about 98.2% of the time....

(seriously, its nearly 99.5% but I know you guys love the 98.2).

Trish- no worries. Can you at least call my post office and tell the grumpy old ladies to stop gossiping and start delivering my packages on time.

If nothing else it's a good illustration of govt vs private sector. When it's UPS all the way it's on time or a little early. As soon as you add a few government Union employees to the very end of the process it is completely screwed up.

How the hell can UPS have it on the truck for delivery by end of business day today, and I won't get it?

Just like DPN's they turned it over to the USPS for final delivery.

What's bad is that UPS had to pass my house to give it to USPS 4miles away.

Well maybe I'll get it by Fri.

This sucks.

Guess I got spoiled living close to CI and allways getting next day delivery.

They should add a disclaimer when choosing shipping options though. If I would have know that the USPS would get their " package crushing " hands on this I would have opted for a different shipping tier.

Yes. In fact, on the CI site you can now select Priority Mail as an option. That wasn't an option on the site prior to the shipping change.

Hey Trish,

Since alot of us are in suspense here.

Are these La Perlas the real deal or will you be getting a bunch returned?

I saw the thread yesterday and asked the question of the Merchandising Gurus. I'm told they're the real deal. You'll have to be the judge when you get them.

Sorry - I'm not out in the warehouse enough to wander through the rows to see anything. The rare times I'm out there, I'm generally on a mission for some other reason.

And Tiger - check out the other shipping options on the site. We do have other tiers available, just not as inexpensive.

This is the response I received...

Paul,

Thank you for choosing Cigars International! The cigars we have and distribute to our customers are original releases straight from the manufacturers themselves. We have a great business relationship with the manufacturers and purchase in bulk to provide great deals for our customers.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns. I would be happy to help!

Thank you,
Amanda M.

Cool. Thanks.

Yeah, I remember, used to have to call in and request a manual change to USPS priority or have your packages shipped to a PO Box or APO, in which case it was automatic.

So I guess that makes the current production cr*p sticks not the real deal, even though Sven swore to me on this board that they where the real deal, or maybe these are the real deal, in the same way that the cr*p sticks are the real deal, but not in the same way that the orginal release are the real deal, which can't be the real deal, if these are the real deal, which may or may not be the original release, as maybe the '08s are the real, real deal, which could be better or not as good as the '07s, even though '07 was the year of orginial release, but maybe not.

OK, now I'm totally confused and have no idea what I just typed. HA!!!!!! Sarcasm

It's called "free shipping" not "fast shipping". The deal was that it was free (to you). That means you get it however they want to ship it. d'oh!

I guess you missed this post of mine, didn't you, Ray? Two shipments coming my way. One was free, but I'm not complaining about that one. It's the boxes that I paid the freight on that this thread is about.
