Details, details...were you just adjusting a log in the splitter and the neighbors wife distracted you by flashing her boobs?

Looks like you were lucky. 22 years as a FF, I have taken many fingers to the ER in a bag of ice.

Lucky for sure. I went to the hospital with my hand in a bowl of ice water. Pretty stupid action on my part caused it. Now I'll be off work for who knows how long. Kinda hard to hold a gun when your gun hand is trashed.

Open fracture of the DIP joint on the fourth digit and small tuft fracture of the fifth digit. At least it's still attached. Hope a speedy recovery to you!

From the way you talked I thought it was serious. Rub some dirt on it, you'll be fine.

Damn that looks painful. Also it looks like it could have been much worse.

Hope you heal up fast. You know the old remedy...soak it in cider. Beer

Take care of the carnage and get well soon. Hope it doesn't affect your ability to convert cigars to ashes.

Not gonna smoke for a few weeks. I want to make sure my fingers heal as well as possible. IIUC smoking constricts blood vessels. Fingers need as good a blood flow as possible while healing.

Call me when you wake up. Maybe we can do lunch in Port Vincent or Frech Settlement. Monday or Tuesday.

getting out every now and again will keep you from going stir crazy.

that, and you have us to keep you entertained.

hmm... have you seen the photos from the fishing herf? or the video? Those were pretty funny.

Besides, we should keep you entertained... not you entertaining us.

Actually I have tried searching for herf videos. Would love it if someone sent me links.

My wife says I'm very entertaining. Something about me all of a sudden dancing all day and taking blue Lortabs. Seems I keep misplacing my glasses as well. Or perhaps it has something to do with starting a conversation, falling asleep mis-sentence, waking up and picking up where I left off.

I no longer have the link. And the only way you can see the video is to have the link.

Every time I have to take any type of anti-biotic, cigars always taste "off flavor" to me. I stopped even trying. Might be the same for you too, in which case you ain't gonna miss anything.

Gonna be a few months before you can grab a grip with that hand. Get well soon!!

Don't worry, just use your left hand to stroke your gun for a while. It's like getting some strange.

We may have to get together when you heal up a bit. I broke my hand in an accident a few years back, and I can help you with physical therapy (i.e. fishing)

Only if he can fish with his left... Otherwise, give him the crappy rods.

Hope the videos brought a smile to your face... They brought tears to mine.. (of laughter)

I'll go as soon as you are ready. I can hold my rod (go ahead and say something) with my right hand and reel with my left.

Gonna be off work for at least 2 more weeks. Which sucks, because I cannot work extra duty. Half my income comes on my off days. No cigar purchases for a while.

Yesterday, I had my first follow-up since the accident. He said it is healing well. According to him, I'll be good to go in 4-6 weeks. Hopefully, I'll be able to go back to work sooner. Getting my regular salary since I have plenty of saved up sick time, but 1/2 my income is from extra duty which I can't work until I return without restrictions.

I was surprised when the doc took off the dressings. Both fingers were nice and round, not flatten like they were Sunday. They seem to be doing fine. Perhaps I can split some more wood in a couple of weeks. Lol
