Contest is for an Aged Sampler of 10 CC (and my collection is getting pretty old at this point.)

Post here the top three finishers for the Grand Prix of Monaco, Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600. The winner will be the one who has all of the 3 race’s winners. In case of a tie I will go with the points awarded (see my post #7 in attached thread in the first year's contest) to each person's selections in each of the races (most correct). Good luck and the deadline is 05/23/14 at 5 PM EST. Please post in race order (i.e. Monaco, Indy, Coca-cola and then the top 3 for each race) Thanks

Here is a link to last year's contest (with a link to the first years contest) if you are not up to speed on what this is about. http://www.cigarbid.com/...r-Sports-Contest-Ver-II

Good luck and have fun with it!! fog

FYI - Only complete submissions (all three races w/all three finishers) posted here before the deadline will be accepted and it is my call on any thing to do with this contest.

Not trying to be a dink but I have to keep this under control. Still lots of time to do some research and get your picks in.

Good luck!!

Note to anyone who picked "Busch" for the CC600. You need to specify which "Busch" before the deadline or you will not be entered in the contest. Thanks

Something else to think about. There is a possibility of rain in Monaco for the F1 race this weekend. I would personally wait to make my selections until I could see how the weather plays out. They DO race in the rain in F1 for those who don't know and Monaco is one of the hardest tracks even when it is dry. Sorry but if you have already made your selections it is too late to change them as they have already been booked.

I would also be remiss if I didn't mention the passing of F1 great Sir Jack Brabham. RIP Jack.

I'm amazed how many Vettel picks there are. Its almost sad to see him fall this hard, this fast.

Nascar is the great unknown in this contest, as the collateral damage from each wipe-out makes it more of a lottery than a race. Unless you run in the front all day :)

Vettel was never one of my favorites. His fall is due to the changes to the cars this year (Me being Mr. Obvious). Red Bull was caught out in the dark on the new changes.
I'm a Button fan but not a fan of McLaren. I wish they had been able to keep the Brawn team together. I'm interested to see what Ross ends up doing and also how McLaren will fair when they switch to Honda engines in 2015. I hope that Ross ends up with McLaren. Hopefully the McLaren/Honda combination will be as successful as their last paring during the '80's. This year has been fun to watch.

Never really been a Nascar fan but will occasionally watch a race; or at least the last 10 or 20 laps. Sarcasm

Looks like it is going to be dry qualifying (more important than a dry race) and a dry race in Monaco.

That would be interesting and would involve racing on two different continents. Kurt is racing at the Indy 500 & the CC 600. Nico took the first leg of the triple crown. Two races left. It will take me at least a day to tally all of the points and get the sticks in the air. Good luck to everyone who entered. fog

I only watched a little of the CC-600 as I had to play tennis and then I watched the Rangers v. Canadians game. I should have all of the points figured out by the end of the day tomorrow and then I will post the results and get the winners address and the sticks out on Wednesday. In the past I calculated all of the points for all of each person's three picks for each race and then just added them all up. That way you at least can get some points for each of the races and each of your selections. Unfortunately, the spreadsheet that has all of your selections, etc... is on the server at the office. Oh well... Have a safe and wonderful Memorial Day with your families. Remember why we celebrate this day and thank a vet!!

I've spent most of the morning calculating all of the points for everyone. I've figured them two different ways. The first is using only the top three finishers in each race. The second is using all of the points earned by each of your three selections. I will need to review all of this tonight and I will hopefully post the results tomorrow. I'm thinking of giving each of the winners (using the different methods) a prize. I've actually got work to do today so keep posted and I'll come up with something that should be fair to everyone.

Thanks

Julian

PS - I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day.

OK here are the totals and what I’ve come up with I tallied this two different ways. The first is that I took only the points for the top three finishers if they were correctly selected and totaled these points (i.e. Top3Only Method) and the second is that I tallied all of the points that were awarded to your three picks even if they weren’t in the correct order (i.e. AllPoints Method).

Here are the point totals for each method.

Top3Only Method
#1 – gumby_130 = 258 points
#2 – billyboy03 = 205 points
#3 – Frozenphoenix1 = 189 points

AllPoints Method
#1 – BlueDude = 481 points
#2 – BillyBoy03 = 468 points
#3 – bitter klinger = 454 points

Ten packs to gumby & Bluedude. So I will need gumby’s and BlueDude’s Addresses PM’ed to me. I'll try to get these out this week but I'll let you know when they are in the air. Thanks
