I love John Lee Hooker’s version too but George’s version really helped “spread the word” about older blues songs.

I'm a fan of good old blues music among other genre of music. Many, if not most, classic rock songs have roots in the blues, soul, R&B, gospel, country and jazz.

The movie original movie The Blues Brothers pays tribute to these roots. Famous movie quote: "We got both kinds, we got country and western."

John Lee Hooker
Aretha Franklin
James Brown
Ray Charles
Cab Calloway

I'm a fan of the Blues Brothers movie. If I remember correctly, that mall that they drive into while being chased by the cops was vacant and destined to be demolished so they rented it out to smash it up for the movie scene.

It was eventually. College buddy was from Harvey, IL and drove me by it once. Think it was like 2010 or something it finally came down

I think they destroyed over 100 cars in making that movie. Not just the shopping mall scene but they crashed up a bunch in other scenes.

When I heard that line I was sure that 98.2% of the people sitting in the movie theater with me, including my girlfriend, had no idea that there was a difference between the two. But iffin’ I hadn’t worked in a record store, neither would I.

74 degrees now... dog walk done, but we did not dodge the raindrops. d'oh! Rained about halfway through the walk. Stopped for a bit, and then started up again. Enough to soak my shirt.

Tank found a duckling lagging behind the momma. So far behind we didn't see her or the other ducklings. Wife picked it up and was going to keep it and feed it, but then we walked by the next retention pond and there they were. I took it to the water and let it go about 50 yds from the momma and the other babies and they started towards each other, so... circle of life and all that.

Bob's Country Bunker featured both music genres. The Blues Brothers is the one and only movie I enjoy watching more than once.

Court went well. I expressed gratitude for progress made instead of just complaining. I requested that the fire marshal get involved for HAZMAT and general code enforcement and the judge thought that was a great idea. He’s tasking the fire marshal to accompany the sheriff’s deputy for code enforcement. I’m not looking to get a bunch of fines imposed. I requested that they issue warnings with face to face contact and to follow up every 30 days. They thought that was reasonable. That was time well spent.

From Study.com

“What is the difference between country music and western music?

Country music emphasized simplified lyric and instrumentation with roots in Appalachian folk music jazz and blues. Western music is a blend of this style plus elements of ranchero and southwestern music of the border states, as well as polka and other folk styles of other cultures.”

Western music has a sub-genre of The Bakersfield Sound which condenses these traits in exemplary fashion.

Yes, a great example of Western music is the band, Riders in the Sky.

There is another sub-branch, Western Swing, e.g., Bob Wells & His Texas Playboys

If I plant something it has to be on the approved list and I have to have the HOA landscaper actually plant it.

I've got a sign in my front yard. Looks like an ADT sign... blue and white. It says "Protected by FAFO Home Security" and under that it says "F--k Around and Find Out".

Nobody from the HOA has told me to remove it yet.

I'm not a fan of country or western music but I understand and appreciate the musical talent. Nowadays country and western "music" rubs me wrong. It's a far cry from the older big name stuff like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Roy Clark, and so on.

I grew up having to watch Hee Haw every week (we only had one TV and 2 or 3 maybe channels that the rabbit ears could pull in). I didn't not like it, it was a good show but when Hee Haw was on, my parents and grandparents always watched it. It wasn't until I got older until I realized how damn good Roy Clark was on the banjo, guitar, and fiddle.

^ So you've watched Hee Haw.

When visiting Grandparents on my Dad's side way up north in Park Falls WI, had to endue the Lawrence Welk Show. But the positive was I learned a ton from them retired farmers and school teachers. When they semi retired from farming Gramps taught math at a public school and Grandma taught English. Reading, Writing, and Rithmetic... the three R's.

Also learned to drive a tractor with a front end loader when was about 12 yrs old thanks to them. I wouldn't trust myself to operate one of those these days but back in the day I was able to and didn't kill anyone.

The smells and sounds of a percolator coffee, bacon frying on the stove, eggs, toast... those sounds and smells will never escape my brain. Oddly enough, the smell of composted cow manure that drifts in the air around a farm in the spring planting time is a good smell memory for me.

We had a group of friends over last night and had a great time. Good food, good wine, good company, good conversation, playing 5 card stud, and playing trivial pursuit.
