Haven't upgraded the OS 7 on my iPad. I'm waiting till everyone else finds all the quirks and 7.1 is available. I usually do the same with my phone, but I was really excited to see & play with the total makeover LOL. Busa - try a reboot? I've had no trouble with voice texting and the search hiccup hasn't been back since I rebooted mine. It has actually been easier for me to read with the white background, but if it's too bright try turning down the screen brightness overall, maybe? Dunno about changing the skin - I'll ask my in-house technogeek.

LOL - had to do a double-take on that one! First thought was Cody, Wyoming's namesake, not Silence of the Lambs!
You'd want to use a light, non-greasy lotion for those skins, so you don't get buildup on the screen.

Dance, dance and more dance!
Mama's tired, and still has to tweak the October newsletter and rewrite the last half of the October lesson plans (having realized that, when I write "dice/marbles" in the math block, I know EXACTLY what we're doing (1:1 correspondence,) but if I had a sub, they'd be lost.)
I'm thinking Arby's is cooking dinner tonight. I have coupons and my boyo's blood type is red ranch, so he'll be happy.
I can class it up by opening a bottle of zin to go with it, right?

SIGH...

The list grows and grows...

I have been informed that Middle school girls do NOT:
* Have "play dates" - they're "hang outs" or "visits."
* Do ANYTHING in the absolutely amazing, insulated, heated, electrically wired with a front porch, a deck, a motion sensor porch light and a lamp post and cool beanbag chairs playhouse if it is ever called "playhouse" within her hearing.
* Drink from a juice box. The juice does not offend - the box does. It must be squeezed into a glass.

Mothers of middle school girls, however:
* Find the idea of a "play date" with her friends to be perfectly delightful. Wine will be consumed.
* Spend an inordinate amount of time in the ridiculously ostentatious playhouse. It's cool, it's quiet, it has a lovely porch, it has power for my laptop, and if I call it a "playhouse," no middle school girls will come looking for me there!
* Have no problem at all drinking juice from a box. Have no problem at all drinking wine from a box, either.

Interesting day - went NOTHING like my lesson plan indicated LOL!
It's "on the farm" week for the preschool, so one of my kiddos' mom said she'd bring an animal to show them, since they have a farm. She showed up this morning with a big playpen fence, a dropcloth, a cardboard box, a dog carrier, and her middle school nephew and unloaded three baby chicks and Tinkerbell the piglet LOLOLOLOL!!!! I had told all the other teachers that we'd have farm visitors and they could bring their kids to see if they wanted, but they hadn't been terribly interested. When Tinkerbell started voicing her opinion of the whole arrangement, however...

We had to go in rotations. Two classes of PK2s, three classes of PK3s, two classes of PK4s... then the third grade teachers asked to visit, since they're reading Charlotte's Web, then the first and second grade classes came down to see (because the Title One teacher who has an office in our wing told their teachers about the piglet,) then the Kindergarden teachers asked if Tinkerbell and Co. could stay till their kids finished in the library LOL. There was pretty much no getting back onto a lesson plan today... but it was a BLAST.
Tomorrow the boyo is bringing Bun Bun on his leash, and another mom from another class said she had a turkey she wanted to bring. As long as we don't have any cattle or mean-azz roosters, we should survive the week relatively intact... I think...

I'm just hoping our WONDERFUL custodian's good humor holds out!

LOL - well, the monkey house, at least!

Boyo brought Bun Bun today. He finally got loosened up and relaxed and started appreciating all the attention (he's a needy little long-eared pain in the butt) and made the kiddos SQUEEEEEAAALLL when he put his paws up on their knees to beg for their goldfish crackers LMAO! Ranked very high on the cuteness scale...

Next week's "community helpers" theme should be easier, I hope. Visiting firemen tend not to poop on the floor.

Oh my. Well, that may or may not be a crowd-pleaser. I suspect the custodian will make Mister Poopenheimer clean his own mess, which almost certainly WILL be a crowd-pleaser.

Sounds like the key is to find a fireman who is housebroken, or put down newspapers.

Hola, all!
Holy cats - had a small group today! Between sick and injured, I was down 6 kids today! Got a lot done - some things are more fun with a big group, but some work sooooo much better with a small one!
Brisk, overcast fall day... chili, cornbread, apple crisp... AAAAaaaahhh!

Boyo... well...

..turned his back to me to show that the summer's manual labor had left his keister so much more muscle-y and rounded that he now needed new jeans that did not "cling to his cheeks" quite so much. So I bought new jeans while I was out. Will Advil do anything for brain cancer, do ya think?

Must have been the night for Chinese food last night. My Son turned 19 yesterday, so Chinese was the dinner of choice. With a most excellent Carvell ice cream cake to finish with, yummm.
Leftover Chinese tonight, lol.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Yup - Kung Pao leftovers tonight!

Resting my tootsies before heading out to my girl's pointe class. Tomorrow is Nutcracker tryouts (already????), storage cleaning and Goodwill dump, and some hours in the classroom. Yowza. Busy busy busy! Somewhere in there, I want to throw a big pot of Beef & Barley on and make some bread... this fall weather has me in the mood for it.

She's reeeeaaallly hoping to get a Christmas Party Girl part this year. The girls play the party boys, too and they always whiiiinnnneeee about getting cast as a boy... but honestly, if it were me that's the one I'd choose. Looks LOADS more fun.

Evenin' folks!

Cold and blustery outside, tummy full of sweet & sour chicken (Princess is becoming a darn fine sous-chef!), coffee in my cup, puppy dog at my feet, and princess snuggled up watching "our show." Cozy evening, overall...

Chinese night was Thursday - you're late!

Frisky - sounds like a good weekend! My silly lab decided that the numicorn sprouting spot was a mighty fine napping place and destroyed mine. Took out 2 cucumber plants along with it. My poor tomatoes are COVERED with green fruit, but it's been so doggone cold lately, I'm wondering if I'm going to get enough ripe ones to can this year. We have had frost warnings at night, but they're still looking healthy... snow in the forecast now. Keeping my fingers crossed for my poor 'maters!

Pick them before they freeze lay them out on the counter and they should ripen up.

Hiya Folks!

Fire meeting tonight, but there is going to be a few beers consumed before then.

Seems the Chief might be having a little problem with drinking during the meetings. Pfttt We are all volunteers. Not really much he can do about it, although out of respect I will refrain. And it didn't seem to bother him all that much before he was Chief Think

LOL - the mention of drinking at the fire meetings brings to mind my most ... exciting(?)... encounter with volunteer firemen. Truck so old I think it had a hand-crank on front - no baffles and water sloshing madly as they took the corner on two wheels. Fireman still in his mechanic/garage shirt with the name on it, untucked, belly hanging out, hose in one hand and cigarette in the other LMAO!
NICE folks, did a good job, very thorough and definitely memorable!

Heading out to ballet again, here. Hoping my girl gets the party-girl part because she wants it soooo badly, even though I think she'd have more fun with the party-boy part.
