In town with da frog & the princess, just back from the Night Glow... Wow! (Hot air balloons lined up with choreographed burners making them glow in the dark - SO COOL!) Gonna be up at the crack of dawn tomorrow for the big launch at sunrise! Once princess is out of the shower and bedded down, Frog and I are taking the herfidor and a beer out to the deck!

It's pretty awesome! They had 12 (of the 40 some-odd balloons that they're launching tomorrow) hot air balloons inflated and lined up at the big park out by the university. After it gets dark, the pilots set off their burners to make the balloons glow ... it's beautiful! Supposedly, it was choreographed to music, and it did seem to be choreographed to SOMETHING, but we couldn't hear it because of sound system difficulties. Bah. Got some great pics, though! Tomorrow they have the balloon races. I always come out with the kiddos for the sunrise launch - all those balloons drifting up into the sky with the sun coming up over the mountains behind them... so SO pretty! This is the first time we've made it in time for Night Glow... definitely on the "do again" list!

got up early to drive downtown to shoot the sunrise. Still thinking of going, since I'm up, just don't know if I'll be able to see it with the dense fog we have here.

Wii dance party with the princess and Aunt Froggie...

Princess pretty much clobbered both of us, but I'll have you know that I ROCKED "It's a small world" and Froggie and I CRUSHED her on the Time Warp LOL! It was worth it for the epic eyeroll...
Suuuper smoky right now, and between that and my new cold (Thank you, little booger-dripping children) my head is too much of a congested, itchy-eyed mess to enjoy the Partagas Black I had brought to go with my morning coffee. Bah.

How was the sunrise, Deb?

Oh HO!
Well, then - you go, girl!

Just finished watching Little Women with my little woman. Ended up being some pretty special girl time. I think I need to dig out my old copy and start some bedtime story time again with my grown-up middle-school girl.

Eh?

Well, my little ones didn't need a LICK of review on their hallway manners, classroom manners, color/number/shape of the month OR last week's Bible verse!!!!!!!
Yeah - they're awesome. Starting new material this week and rockin' it already!

Khan Academy training tonight, Princess starts dance again tomorrow night, and the rain is still pouring down... with two large, wet chicken-dogs cowering in the living room with the damp bunny, all terrified of the thunder. I think it's a pizza-delivery night. There is no cooking happening in this chaos, and I'm NOT going out in this mess to retrieve anything.

Our little miracle cancer survivor Grandson started HEadstart. They have it at the school in the small town where my daughter lives, and where I grew up/went to school. He is LOVING it. And I haven't gone yet, but plan on going to lunch with him one day, figured I would let him get settled in a week or so first. Something tells me he is a Pet, hehe. He is quite the character as well, I have NO idea where he got that! He will be 5 in Oct. He still is gonna need at least one more eye surgery, he's already had one set of eye surgeries, but he is a trooper, and will get through it no problem. Keeps me from complaining, that's for sure! He should be wearing a patch as they want to strengthen one eye's muscles more, his glasses aren't forcing him to use it enough, but he's not too happy about having to wear a patch. Looks like he's gonna have to be a Pirate early and long for Halloween, HA.

Sounds like a tough little nut, Numi! He'll love having lunch with Grandpa - those at-school lunch dates are pretty special. I wouldn't worry too much about the patch - we've had a couple of kids with lazy-eye who had to wear them at our school, and they have problems and peel and peek at first, but they get used to them pretty quickly and do great. They have the coolest designs these days, too! Geez - when my baby bro had to wear one, you could get flesh colored and that was it - if you wanted anything else you had to use markers or stickers (which we did.) Last year our little eyepatch girl in 1st grade had a different floral or cute-animal design for every day of the week, it seemed! She finally settled on a favorite that matched her glasses frames LOL.

Home from parent tech-training at my girl's school. I'm glad we walk to school - the roads are a disaster! There are more flooded and closed than are open and passable...and more rain supposedly coming tonight. One of my poor coworkers is an older woman who lives alone - she had flooding in two rooms just with the rain we got on Labor Day - and that didn't flood any roads! Keeping her in the prayers tonight.

yes'm, he did real good the first time, but for some reason the adhesive on hte patches took the skin off, and made it pretty raw when he started them back a week or so ago. He has had problems with certain tapes, and bandages in hte past, causing an allergic skin rash, otherwise, he would not be complaining, but we figure that he has been able to see so much better with the better eye, that he isn't wanting to have to use the "fuzzy" one. He barely acknowledges pain, and won't bother to explain most things, he is just happy to be doing whatever is happening at the moment. It certainly doesn't slow his hand/eye much as he can work his ipad better than I can for sure, LOL.

Yes, I am looking forward to lunch with him, I always took days off for my kids field trips, day trips, and any of their extracurriculars. The biggest problem will be getting Ole bunged up Grandpa up and driven an hour over to his school by 10 am!!!!!!!!! Not an easy task, and I'm not real functional at that time of the day. Can we say Ole Numi will start that day early and take some meds early as well. hehe

I hear you about adhesives. I had issues when I had some eye surgery. Mainly that I could not get the glue off. Since then, I"ve also had major allergic reactions to some types of glue.

I'd never heard about rubber cement causing 2nd degree chemical burns. Who knew?
