TG, I'm not going to ask why you know Jack Johnson did the music for the CG Movie. But I'm talking about the 1/2 hour CG TV Show.

The orginal?

That was a good movie.

The sequels were crap though.

JR-

I used to live in Santa Cruz for many years. Jack Johnson was very popular there.

It's a surfing thing, dude.

The original, TG. Lee Marvin still scares me. Afraid he'll step out of the tv and kick my candy ass.

The Dirty Dozen's one of my favorite movies, but AMC's got "Letters from Iwo Jima" on.

TG, I have a couple of JJ's CDs. Good chill music that I can play in front of my kids.

Jack Johnson's stuff all sounds about the same to me. After about three songs I loose interest.

Yes, for movies and sports its unbelievable.

I've jumped out of my chair and flinched more than a few times when watching.

Watching a National Geographic special on steroids.

This just in: Steroids are bad, Mmm-kay?

Raises bad cholesterol, drops good cholesterol, causes tumors on the liver, kidneys, etc..., promotes plaque build-up on your arteries, which causes heart attacks...

One doctor summed it up nicely... "looks good on the outside, but destroys your inside."

TG, I agree with you on J. Johnson - that's why I'm not rushing into the store to pick up his latest. Two or three CDs is enough for me.

ZVOX??? I'm Googling it and it seems like it may work in my room. Traditional surround sound systems won't work cause we have the Plasma in the corner of the room at an angle while we sit in a L-shaped sectional. We can never put the rear speakers to accomodate everyone on the couch.

Depends on the type of speakers and how they are arranged along with the capability of your processor, but agreed, it can get to be a PITA when you start dealing with odd rooms and shapes.

And the fact that we really only don't have a wall directly behind the couch (Bay window and space before the french doors).

The speakers I had were the Cambridge Soundworks with the original bi-polar surround speakers. They would not work well in my room.

Hang the speakers from the cieling.

Omnimount makes brackets specifically for that purpose.

CastoratedSoundWorks bi-polars? ick.

Regardless, yes, those speakers only work in square, rectangular or trapezoidal rooms with predominately solid sides and solid back walls.

Ceiling...nope, cathedral A-Frame type ceiling with oak beams crossing over. I thought about hanging them from the beams but got veto'd by the wife (I don't blame her - the room is really cool with cedar plank walls on three sides and a stone wall on the exterior wall.

Hang a pair of magnaplainars (if you can find them) or electrostats (if you have to ask how much Martin-Logans cost, you can't afford them) up in the A-frame of the cieling.

Told'ya it could be done.

TG, you lost me.

MACS, the room was an addition to the house where the prior owner put skylights in an A-Frame ceiling.

I do believe you are, sir.

Are you averse to granting membership to Mr. Gerbil? Of course, we'll have to get Andy, 8track, et al, to ratify it...

I'm not exactly sure who et al is, though.

But I'll vow for TG acting like an idiot. I'm sure there are a few others around here that would second that motion.

Thunder Gerbil trying to become a bone-if-fidededed Asshat?

Hmmm.

What do you see as your qualifications to becoming a Asshat is poor standing?

JR-

I was responding to your comment about the cieling design in that room and how you couldn't use standard cieling mounts or speakers. Both the Magniplanars and the ML Electrostats are only about an inch thick. they look like fabric stretched pannels (Magniplanars) or fine mesh grills (ML's). Fly them tucked in tight up to the cieling (for the most part following the angle of the A-frame - have to drop the top edge a bit though) and you would hardly notice them.

Problem is, they start at about a grand per speaker (more for the ML's)

I'm also concerned about how smarterererer he is. Certainly a jackass of the first order, but I haven't seen a lot of asshatian behavior.

Perhaps a probabtion period to dumm him down a bit?

My parents used nyquil, vodka and prune jiuce to slow my brain down. Worked like a charm.
