Gents,
I am about to deploy to Afgh shortly. I don't know the situation there as far as being able to get hold of sticks. I thought that maybe I could set something up with someone or some people to do some sort of trade off. I can get a flag flown for you Pics and certificate included for a trade. Could look at something else for trade off if you like. I can easily get things flown as I am with a Marine Harrier squadron. If anyone is interested, please let me know. I'll have access to my regular email for only a few more days. After that it'll be hit or miss. [email protected]

I was gifted a flag from my noob - July 11. This would make an awesome prize for a future OpFTH fund raiser.

Thank you for your service! Applause

All....
WOW....I really wasn't expecting this. I'm excited to get started with this for you all though. It's truely a pleasure to be able to do things like this for people. Those of you that do get flags....I hope you are happy with the overall. Pics, certificates, flags, etc. I've got pilots ready to hook me up. I promised them a couple sticks for doing it for me. I'll be ready to start flying flags probably next week. Just need to get settled in. I don't have the greatest connectivity so it's difficult to check this all the time. Collin, David, Todd...I have some info, but will need more once they're flown. I have you in my gmail so I can get back to you from there no problem. Collin, I have both the Marine Corps and American Flag ready to go. No MC flags in country so had to grab one before I left. Sorry everyone....his flags are first and a priority. Being flown for a medically retired Marine Sgt.

As far as the sticks go.....I'll leave it totally up to you as to what it's worth to you. And to give you an idea, my favorite so far has been Tatuaje Miami, but I love the RP Vintage 1990's also. I'm willing to try anything. I'm going to pass some out to my Marines too, so anything would be great.

Here's my contact info if anyone else needs it.

Gents, my apologies....we were given an incorrect address. The address is an FPO AE. Not FPO AP. I changed it on my previous post so it is correct on there now.

All.....
First flag has been flown. Sorry, this one was a special one for me. I had it flown over Baghdad in '03 for my son. Now it's been flown in both theatres. At this point all I'm waiting on is for admin to generate the certificate templates. Should be in the next couple of days. Once I get word the templates are ready, I'll start handing flags off to the pilots. Once it's flown, it'll take me a day or two to get it boxed and to the post office. Don't know about mail time from here so can't help ya there. Might throw in some "pogs". Depends on how many I've got. It's what we use for change out here. Only place to get them is here or Iraq.
Engletl....still waiting on yours. I'll let you know when I'm working it. Gotta try and find a small wire brush for a drill. Hard to fine one that size (1 1/4" dia).
Evidently our address has changed again. The previous one will get here eventually. I'll post the new one as soon as I get it.

Engletl.....I really appreciate it and I know my boys here will also. I told them I've got a special surprise coming for them. I've been handing out a few of my personal stash as a pre-amble. I'm still waiting on the gift I promised you. I'll let you know when I have it in hand and in work on it.

First 3 flags have been flown. They should be in the mail no later than early next week. Shooting for this weekend. Looks like mail takes about 2 weeks.I'm snapping a quick photo of the pilot holding the flag prior to launch to email. I just need to upload them to my computer. With 15 hr days, kinda difficult. The certificates turned out VERY nice. True AV-8B Harrier fashion.

I truely appreciate the support from the forum. I hope you enjoy the return. I'm glad I could do this for you. If there's anyone else that woudl like to participate in this trade off, just let me know. Drop me an email with your name (for the certificate) and mailing address. It's very easy for me to get this done and done quickly. These pilots know who they owe.....I give them all their ordnance to drop and shoot. [email protected]

Semper Fidelis......

All,
I am totally amazed at the support from this. On that, I've decided to do something with some of the sticks I get from you. The hospital here on base is a major trauma center. All servicemen and women who are injured come through here to either recoup or go from here to follow on care. I'm going to take a bunch sticks over there and pass them out there. Don't know if there's a way to post pics on here, but I will definately have them taken so if anyone would like a copy of their sticks going to "Wounded Warriors", just let me know and I will do my best to get you some. This hospital is phenominal......if you have a heartbeat when you get there, you have a 96% chance on living. I know alot of the personnel there are amputees and very demoralized so I think this will lift some spirits, even a little bit for a little amount of time.

Engletl......I have alot of trouble with a slow connection here and can't do it from my government computer. If you don't mind, I'll send a few to you for posting. What I try to do is get one of the pilot holding the flag in front of the jet just prior to launch, and one of just the jet it flew in. I have to be careful what I take pictures of. I will definately get a couple of the "cigar night" once the first sticks arrive and send those.

OH MY G*D!!!!!!!!!!!! Engletl and Whizzy1.......you two are my absolute HERO's. I received mail today, opened the boxes, and my jaw hit the floor. I filled the 2 herfs' i've got, the 50 stick humi I've got, my boss's 50 stick humi, given away to the pilots about 40-50 sticks, and it looks like I haven't even made a dent in the amount of sticks I've got. ALL of which I have heard alot about and have wanted to try. I am still completely dumbfounded. I am SO grateful. Thank you doesn't do this justice.........You have my word that I will take care of both of you with something that will definately be the talk of ANY cigar night that includes you taking the first shot. Thank you both SO much.....from everyone here at VMA-513 "Flying Nightmares". KAF Afghanistan.

Peanut, Thank you. I've found that there are few people that are sincerely appreciative of the sacrifices that the military endure. This board and the members of it are truely amazing. The support and feedback are phenominal. The members here are the type of individauls that when I say that it's my pleasure, I mean it. There are some that say "thank you" just because it's the thing to do at the state the world is in right now. Believe me, we can tell just by how it's said if you truely mean it or not.
What is the name of the Cigar Shop? I'll be sure to get a flag flown for the shop and get it out your way for display.

This is beyond words. Everyone here is so appreciative. I can't even begin to explain it. I did an air drop a couple of days ago to the SOF (Special Operations Forces) that are in the most remote of areas out here. They sent word back today that it was the best thing they've seen on an airdrop yet. They always get gatorade, powerbars, etc.....I dropped 10 sticks each for 3 drops. They absolutely loved it. I intend on putting together more. As long as I have sticks, I'm handing them out and air dropping them. Thank you all so much for the support for over here.
