Soooo.... people are intentionally waiting in line (giving up their time) in order to give money to a company for no reason other than the CEO has shown support for the concept of ensuring the laws of the land specifically follow a religion which identifies a group of our society as "bad".

Way to keep it classy America.

Vic, you know you're off base here.
The CEO offered his opinion and provided his honest answer. In fact, he didn't even use any negativity. He simply said he supported traditional marriage.
Forget about the rest. About the supposedly hate-laden charities or any other affiliations. This was determined after the fact. The politicians in Boston and Chicago tried to stiff-arm his company for that single interview.

This argument isn't about the left or the right. It's 100% about the fence sitters. Folks who don't want to discriminate against homosexuals but who are growing tired of having their agenda force its way into every aspect of American life.

So they support a fast food company that isn't afraid of holding onto yesterdays values. They ignore profit for religion by remaining closed on Sundays. They openly support traditional families. And for that they are being vilified as being haters.

If Chik Fil A discriminated because of their personal convictions, then the mayors wouldn't need to threaten. They could legally take action.

And I don't even blame the gay community for this. Rather, it's the well-intentioned liberals who have decided to fight their fight for them. But the result is further division and misplaced angst. Such as what you suggest in your post above.

The affiliations etc were not after the fact and led to that portion of the interview. The world doesn't operate in a vacuum. That's only convenient when trying to define a problem in an advantageous yet unrealistic way.

Chick can say and do what they want. In this instance it will likely benefit them. And the gay homos can do what they want (other than marry)

Meh.

On a related note I heard the dens are trying to outlaw poulttry and confiscate our nuggets.

All that aside I've decided to come off the post and declare a position.

I think gay homoness is bad and they should not be allowed get married unless they come into cbid, prove they are worthy and vet things through us. Of course even if we decide it's ok RAM has the final say.

Cathy's somewhat glib response: "Well, guilty as charged."

He went on to note, "We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that...we know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles."

Cathy then reiterated his stance during an appearance on "The Ken Coleman Show," Good as You blogger Jeremy Hooper reported.

"I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,' and I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is about," Cathy said in that interview, which can be heard here."

Last time I checked every American citizen has the RIGHT to speak their mind. Seems to me that if you disagree, then don't associate. In this case, don't eat a Chick-Fil-A. I still don't see what all the fuss is about. Oops I forgot, there is a segment of society who are not content with live and let live. They also seek to provoke. Without a cause, they have no one to purchase their newsletters, buy their books, etc...

Sadly we have become a nation of causes. In no other country is there such an economy of leeches.

Sounds like a whole lot of to do about nothing. If someone disagrees with him, I see two options. Eat there or go elsewhere.

Rather simple solution to a non-existent problem.

You're right CFA didn't do anything legally wrong. (I don't believe I've said they have anywhere)...

I guess here's the double standard: JCPenny uses a lesbian in a commercial (not having her even do anything lesbiany, and well within the rights of the company) and a christian group demands they fire her, organizes a failed boycott etc etc... and I bet every person on this forum defended it. Hell, I bet a few people on this forum said "I'm never shopping at JCP again". CFA owner comes out against gay marriage (something which is within his right) and a couple mayors say they don't want it in their city (I believe as mayor they're within their rights to say what they would and would not like to see). And suddenly, CFA is "under attack"... and other politicians are organizing "support CFA day". It's a double standard.

Is there a thread here on the whole JCP issue or at least a picture post? You made some pretty bold predictions as to how the board reacted. Sounds like you created a straw man so you could declare double standard.

Chick-Fil-A is under attack by gay-homo militant extremists and their Godless liberal douchebag collaborators. So far it has been an epic FAIL.

And gays are under attack from politicians . Here's one calling for them to be put to death:

Actually he just quoted the Bible so you've exaggerated again. Leviticus was a hard-ass. Any time he showed up at parties it was a buzz-kill.

Gay are under attack because there is a backlash against gay-homo militant extremists. Regular gay-homos need to bring them in check. Just like Muslims and Al Qaeda.

Isn't he a special guest news guy or something? I don't think he's a mayor that threatened to block Chick-Fil-A from opening a store. I guess the equivalent would be if some mayor offered to let Chick-Fil-A open a store and completely bypass all permitting processes.

Since when is it a strawman???

If I said "When TW left that stinky brie cheese on the table, I bet that smelly frenchman HD was drooling" I'm not making a strawman argument, I'm making an assumption. We all know the JCP boycotts existed and why they existed. I'm betting that the same people who waited in line to hand cash over to CFA purposely boycotted JCP. Since some individuals here did one, it's a logical assumption they did the other.

You made up a completely fake argument and then plugged it into your formula to reach your predetermined conclusion.

You kicked that strawman's ass but in a highly fa ggy manner. Girl-slap fight kinda stuff...

I don't think you even know what a strawman is. Go look it up HD before you continue using words which are too complex for you.

The argument is that there is a double standard. The existence of a boycott against JCP for hiring a lesbian is evidence of this. I'm not even arguing anything about the JCP boycott, so it can't be a strawman argument. Brick wall

Boycott is done by people not spending money (maybe protesting).

NOT refusing permits by gov't officials based on political reasons.

LHD did in fact PWNED you yet again. He texted me thar he's singing Shaquille O'Neils famous "Tell me how my azz tastes" but hoping you don't extrapolate that to the wrong conclusion too.

Don't even try with the whole "I more intelligent elitist" angle. It is not becoming on you nor believable.

The Straw Man fallacy is committed when a person simply ignores a person's actual position and substitutes a distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version of that position.

Once you created the distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version about the JCP boycott, you skipped right over attacking it and plugged it right into your double standard.

You got caught.
