Poor kiddo! Just in time for school to start, eh?
I'm thinking I might not mind trading you places right about now...

Drove through the deluge (sky opened up around 1pm and was into severe flooding, closed roads and sandbags being distributed when I was on the road picking up girls for my Princess' bday party) and now I'm trapped in a camper with 4 severely spastic tweenage girls...right now they're "filming a movie." The zombie murder scene they're working on right now is going to send the trailer rocking and rolling down the embankment into the river any moment now. I've just been informed that I am the zombie murderer... there's a "corpse" lying across my ankles in my bunk LOL.

Boyo - Can you guys keep the plays and murder scenes over on the other end of the camper? People are trying to sleep over here...
Unidentified tween - Well THAT'S not gonna happen...
Mass giggle fit.

SIGH.

Sore throat is the temp culprit, she's ok. Gargling salt water and peroxide water helps.

I got to bed at 4.

GF is driving Jacoby and I to my dads for a birthday dinner for my brother and I! Bros birthday was yesterday.

Hows the camping?

HOME AT LAST!!!

Wonderful girls, and all kiddos I've known for yeeeeaaarrrssss, BUT... it was definitely confirmation that I will NEVER aspire to be a middle school teacher LMAO! Borrowed Grandma and Grandpa's Camper for the trip, so the rain the first night was no issue. Nice spot right on the river at Lava, Boyo cooked us tinfoil dinners in the campfire, Boy Scout style, watched a movie in the camper while the rain came down, Triple Chocolate Meltdown ice cream birthday cake (Princess picked blue and orange candles - BSU YEAH BABY!) giggling gaggle bouncing and shrieking and giggling all night long with their "zombie murder movie" production, mama enjoyed her coffee by the fire the next morning while the gaggle slept in, BEAUTIFUL sunny day, had a late breakfast and threw everyone into the pool complex as soon as it opened, swam and sunburned all day (seriously - this is MIDDLE SCHOOL. I should be able to tell them "make sure everyone puts on sunscreen," and walk away. Had to walk back to the camper (a whole parking-lot length away wooooo.) retrieve it and bring it to them... so they could still not use it and whine because they're burned. Facepalm...) swam till 3, changed clothes, had the middle-school special for lunch (Pizza, mac & cheese, watermelon, doritos, more cake) while watching another movie and painting nails (seriously? We're camping! Facepalm #2.) no one was interested in tubing the river until we were all dry & dressed and began disconnecting the camper and packing up to load out (Facepalm #3) and got everyone home around 6 last night.

Right now, she and the boyo are playing the new Minecraft game big brudder bought her on the X-box. (it's on the laptop, her iPod, and now the Xbox. How many platforms does one game need?????) Enjoy it, Princess, because...

School starts tomorrow! YEEEHAAAAAWWW!!!

Couldn't guess when school starts here. For the first time in 16 years, I do not have to go back to school shopping.

It's fun standing off to the side watching all of the other parents go crazy trying to figure out what the lists want, the kids need/want, and check every thing off twice.

LOL! Everything was bought a month ago when the good sales started - our office staff is great about getting the lists emailed in time for everyone to catch the best prices. Going in early tomorrow so we can set up her locker before the day starts. She has a big fluffy carpet and a motion sensor chandelier... HUH? I had a couple of magnets, a mirror and a little cup to hold pens and a hairbrush! She has those too, mind you... all pink, to match the carpet and chandelier. Epic facepalm...

I'm actually hoping I don't get to that "no more back to school" place *too* quickly... It's feeling like the time is flying faster and faster, though! Middle school orientation really hit me like a punch in the gut! My girl is rockin' out in the shower right now, with the Selena Gomez Birthday Song on an endless loop - seems like not long ago she was hung up on Disney tracks!

DAY ONE DOWN YEEEEHHHHAAAAAAAWWWW!!!!!!!

Holy crap on a cracker... week one is always SUCH a learning experience, but I never realized until now how MUCH of one! Line up? These kids have never walked in a line before! Raise hands? Never done that! Time to go when the whistle blows? You mean that whistle was for US? Brand new stuff! Don't want to do something or leave the playground or whatever so you RUN from the teacher??? Yeah... NOT gonna happen. I've got two runners. One of the runners plus one more are biiiiggg fit throwers, too. "I do what I want - your voice is just noise." Ooooh, kiddo...this is going to be SUCH an eye-opener for you! (Talked to one of the moms after school about it, too. This week we're going to keep learning the rules and reminding, because there's a LOT to learn. NEXT week, however.... we're STOMPING on that one. HARD. Imma gonna break out my stompin' shoes just for the occasion.)

LOL...

Spent 2 hours in the dentist chair today. Hurts to smile and talk. Also have work to do for a change at work. My boss gave me a project that I'm liking.

of course, I'll be out of work in a few hours.

Maybe he'll have more for me.

Hey - I'm only a meanie if I enjoy it!
Hmmm... Okay, I guess I'm a meanie. Pass the bubble gum! LOL!
Did a little stompin' today, even though I said I was going to wait a week. When she decided to run from me and go up by the road... yeah. NO. Stompin' time. Kind of frustrated - spent all summer getting my old class toeing the line and saying "yes ma'am, no ma'am, please and thank you," cleaning up, counting, paying attention, raising hands, getting praise from everyone they pass in the hallway... now starting all over. It's like wrestling a bag of wet cats right now.

Get some poker chips. When u whistle, those that line up get one. They can turn them in for first chance to do something they want, pick the book for reading time, a treat (fruit snacks or the like)

Those that don't toe the line (literally) will see their classmates being rewarded for good behavior.

Ya - my runners like to head for the parking lot and the road whenever they hear me blow the whistle to line up or sometimes just because they think it's fun to make someone chase them. Two of my three runners will do it as a defiance issue - "you aren't the boss of me and I'll prove it." Not happening, kiddos. Deb - I like the poker chip idea. I do something similar with skittles - give all my kiddos who DIDN'T run from me a skittle when we get inside... and had a howling meltdown from the runners. Tough nuts, kiddo. Then I gave everyone who WASN'T screaming another skittle. Two of my three howlers dried up FAST LOL! Problem is, my good kids were full of Skittles by the time the day was over!

I'll have this bunch walking in line with hands to themselves, no one shoving anyone else to take their spot or make them go faster or wandering out of line to look out a window by the end of the week. We're close now... spent a lot of time going back and starting over till we got it right, but we're almost there! After the long weekend, we'll need to refresh some memories, but by the end of next week we'll be old pros! I'd sure like to know WHY these kids' summer teacher didn't bother to teach them this stuff yet ... I know two teachers who inherited some SHARP kiddos from me - kiddos who are now helping their teachers whip the rest of their class into shape! HAH!

Once we get classroom management handled, we can start doing the COOL stuff!
