Havin her party next weekend once again without the gold fish..
I did stock my pond with 200 gf but only one left. The pond is fed from run off from the woods and when we get a good storm they get flushed away. Not quite sure why i stock it every year.

What Andy said...

Buy 400 GF...two will survive and they will surely fill your pond up rather quickly...

Your daughter is old enough now that she and her friends could have a lot of friend betting on which fish will die last.

Winner gets the freshest of the sashimi.

This has inspired me. I'm having all my employees and their spouses, dates, whatever for a BBQ this weekend. We do this every year.

I think I'm going to fill the bunker nearest my home, the left bunker on the fifth green, with saltwater, then turn my saltwater fish and a crab loose in there. We'll put up a beach umbrella, some chairs...

Hmmm...nobody mentioned letting each kid paint their fish and then putting them in the pool...last decorated fish swimming wins a nice surprise...

(hint, must let paint dry on fish or it will just wash off as soon as fish is put in water)...

^uhhh, paint dry on live fish=dead fish...if you started your own thread with an idea like that...it would rival this thread for hilarity of ensuing remarks.

First time reading this classic thread. Funny stuff.

I went to a town fair near Nago, Okinawa, Japan in 1992. They had kiddie pool filled with Japanese fresh water eels (Unagi). You paid something like 100Y (a buck) and you caught them with your hands. I had a blast with the little Okinawan kids catching eels. They are very slippery and kind of give you a small static shock when they slither out of your hands. The kids kept them, and took them home for grandma to cook.

Great thread, fun memory.

Brian - you ever see this in all your time in Japan?

yes, gringo...the shrine near my house in the summertime does it. slippery little okinawan kids! my wife tried to cook one once, the little bastid kept screaming! from then on, it was purely catch and release.

Thanks Jade. I think this is the greatest thread I have ever seen on CBid, maybe even the entire internet!

Downside is that he is/was from Rhode Island and has the same first name and last initial as both my father and I . . . if not for the "daughter" he mentioned in the thread I would have sworn this was my dad's idea for my baby bro's birthday party.

I still can't believe how this thread got BETTER like 8 different times as you read down it.

must have been about 1968...

George Bishara finally corners the slippery little fish against the wall of Ronnie Lundgren's pool. Then the shiny scales floating on top. The squished remains sticking to George's palms.

[shudder] Oh the humanity!
