Dude, seriously ground beef at walmart is crap animals wont eat, I know I have tried to feed it to them. Ground beef for 20% more at Costco makes really good burgers.

Buy your tires aw walmart- same brand as costco, you will pay more and get half the warranty.

Couldn't agree with youmore on walmart meat and how they treat their workers.

And I hate them as I think they are the devil...lol but until ppl stop shopping there wally worlds going to be a big player.

I im just defending you comments against other grocery store chains.

No major grocery store chain would want to be in your state, leaves only mom and pop stores.ram27bat

Kombat,
Do you have a Trader Joe by you? Are they allowed to sell beer and wine in your state?

If so try cheap TJ beer and their legendary two dollar wine. You will think twice about Kroger. Yes $2 wine that competes with $20 dollar stuff. Stout that is better than Guinness, at lower price.

And they pay their guys like kings.

There are three Walmarts within 5 miles of my house. Depending on which route I take coming home from work, I have to drive pass one of two every day. The other one that's actually closer than the other two is out of my way.

If I have to pick up something from the grocery store, I'll pass Walmart in favor of either an Albertson's which is a fairly large regional grocery chain or a Carter's which is a local privately owned group of stores that was began as one store that the father expanded to 4 so that each one of his children would have their own store.

He can't. It's just another one of his failed attempt at making friends. Seems he didn't have any luck pecker checking so he shifted his tactics.

The average wage at Costco is $17 an hour. , ur kidding right. Average wage, plz and I asked this of scompay, give me DIRECT KNOWLEDGE of wages. Ill tell u right now that is not what they make. Cart ppl snagging xarts for 17$ an hour, there would be ppl lined up to get those jobs. Just cause an article is written doesnt make it correct or factual.
Plz go investigate for yourself, starting wage is minimum wage, then in time u get raises, not even after 10 years unless ur in management are u making 17$ an hour.

Dude... I just did a search and grabbed the first article. There is a ton of research out there regarding the discrepancies between Walmart and other places.

It isn't my argument, just figured since you were looking for some info, I'd grab it for you. If that isn't what you're looking for.... well, I don't really care.

Yes Sir,
I swear to Allah and 100 goats, I have friends at TJ, they are very happy and want to be there all their lives. Go ask.

They also have this policy of having the most happy people on staff, dont know how they do it (other than pay) but they are the friendliest folks on earth.

Do you drink beer? light of dark?

So you have friends that own hospitals. You have friends at TJ's. It seems you spend quite a bit of time posting on these forums, but as far as I can see you have no friends here????

Not to sound like a cheapskate. Best cognac, Armagnac, scotch, at the lowest prices I have got at TJ. Look if they can do $2 wine, and do it damn well, imagine what they can do for a $18 single malt.

Now I'm gonna have to draw the line there.

That'd get me 1/10th of a bottle of excellent scotch. Why bother with $20 scotch?

You cant drink $200 bottle of scotch as a daily drinker. Are you mad, you will have to start holding up liquor stores at that burn rate.

I have always had blended, its a good bargain. Love Dewar's and White Horse. WH the scotch not the other white horse.

A bottle of Glenlivet last me a year.

Also making the move over to tequila.

I drink scotch maybe 3-4 days a week. The scotch I drink ranges from $50 - $220 a bottle. I see nothing wrong with having a glass of $100 scotch daily. There's approximately 25oz in a bottle... so say 10 servings per bottle. It's the same as smoking a cigar ranging in price from $5-$20. No one seems to blink at that.

I suppose there are some indulgences worth it. And there is no substitute.

I am nuts about cigars- just nuts i tell ya. But I have to admit i get mine at this auction site. Meaning i try to manage my indulgences, as if my jewish godmother was still looking over my shoulder.

I went somewhere the other day and they wanted fifty bucks for a slice of wagyu- i said i would rather eat the money.

Substitute Wally World with almost any large grocer, fast food, or large retial store chain , and, boo hoo about the wages for those entry level positions, to be fair.

Selective outrage, outrage!

Look the point is we were able to change the mop water coffee they served at Mcdonalds- we did it by supporting the companies like Starbucks.
So the larger point is if we want to improve our place, we need to start by living better. As simple as that.
They have us convinced that we need to keep buying junk from the likes of walmart, which only takes the country backwards.

Shopping at Trader Joes and Costco where we would be led to believe they pay their cashiers $40K a year isn't going to change the country. It is a fun and noble thought to have while driving your Prius.

"pay their cashiers $40K a year isn't going to change the country"

See this is where we have proof it works. If we only bother looking.

Look at Germany, successful in every sense of the way. They pay a whole lot more than us and make sure they have preserved a minimum quality of life. So we know that paying folks well and having free healthcare does not bankrupt a country, it makes it stronger.

Lets not forget, Germany does not even have the natural resources that we have, nor the innovation, nor the ability to spend on military. They are still prohibited from making planes and guns. So they dont even have that massive industry.

The only question we have to ask ourselves (and the reason for this topic) does the Walmart business model of paying folks less than the poverty line and depending on food stamps, increase or reduce, our minimum quality of life.
