Lets not forget, Germany does not even have the natural resources that we have, nor the innovation, nor the ability to spend on military. They are still prohibited from making planes and guns. So they dont even have that massive industry.

Germany makes, jets, tanks, guns, submarines, and ships.

Look at Germany, successful in every sense of the way. They pay a whole lot more than us and make sure they have preserved a minimum quality of life. So we know that paying folks well and having free healthcare does not bankrupt a country, it makes it stronger.

I'm not sure it has been established that Germany is successful in every sense of the way, pays a lot more, and have preserved a minimum quality of life.

Back to the original post. I do not remember the last time I shopped at Walmart. To me their business model is despicable. The best way in my mind to show my disdain for them is to not buy from them.

I think many of us can agree that they care nothing about America or Americans. They only care about profits.

Worse, they are exploiting our well-being to further theirs.

It'll stop right after we plant and maintain our own crops, raise our own livestock, etc. Truth is, we're mostly lazy spoiled brats that wanna sit around in our underwear smoking cigars and argueing on the internets...

In related news I saw a commercial last night where Wal Mart is pledging to buy 25% of their stocked items from US producers/manufacturers. I'll believe it when I can buy some rubber dogsh!t with "Made in USA" on the bottom...

Voting with our wallets is the only real voting left, folks.

I worked for Walmart for several years in the late 90's when I was in my teens and early twenties. By the time I quit I was making $12/h. Not great pay, but by no means was it a slave wage. I had Kaiser medical for $100 a month. I got a 10% discount in the store. I could buy stock pre-tax, and Walmart would match me 15%. We also got a profit sharing check once a year, and depending on our store profits as an hourly associate I would get $400-$700 after taxes. I'm not necessarily defending Walmart, I hated working there. But if you want to pick on an evil corporation I think there's plenty of worse businesses out there.

that doesn't sound bad for someone starting out at all.... I've heard they keep alot of employees under 40 hours tho to keep them from getting the benefits you described... Mellow

That sounds better than Trader Joes or Costco.

People hate Walmart because they developed a successful business model, evolve it, and continue to be successful. Succsess and profit are now things that are shamed and apologies are required.

It is time to start hating Trader Joes. They have a cult/fanboy following that is enabling them to excessively profit. Whole Foods should also be targeted. No more exploitation of the Prius crowd.

Just one problem with your proposal. The beemer crowd hates door dings. Each ding like shaving 1/16th of their wiener shizzel.

From what I can find,
Trader Joes pays pretty good, compared to Walmart.
Here is what I have found on their wages.

Here are reviews of the work atmosphere.

Sounds better than Walmart to me.

I think he gets that. I was referring to growing our own individually, as in planting gardens and stuff. I hear some people actually do that...

I think the most of what they're being paid not to grow is corn, but I may be wrong about that.

Hilariously, only folks that were debating it were the ones who dont actually know Trader Joe's. I know from the simple fact that most of the employees in our neighborhood store have been transferred here to the east from California. Who transfers a fricking grocery clerk. As if they are hard to find. TJ does, its a true American success story.
