You guys are looking at the "miraculous" from the inside. It gives you a warped perspective and makes you think of it as the only possible way it could occur.

We were driving back from Yellowstone yesterday, and on the way through Glendive MT, we saw what looked to be a really nice dinosaur museum. Daughter loves museums, so we pulled in.

It was an awesome building with some really cool pieces in the lobby. Went to pay, and the guy behind the counter launches into his spiel about how they are a dinosaur museum with a biblical take on things and they wanted to put dinosaurs in the context of the bible. Daughter was already too excited to leave, so I sighed and paid.

What a load of crap. They had a ton of cool pieces, including actual fossils and a dig they were working on. Unfortunately, their take was that evolution was made up, the earth was only thousands of years old, and that dinosaurs and man lived side by side, and that Noah took baby dinosaurs on the ark, since they took up less room. It was too much for me to bear (I am a biologist by education, and I can't say that I believe in god).

I will be the first to admit that modern science has not explained everything. I don't believe that hyping creationism by blatantly distorting the truth about evolution and other proven process is the right way to go though.

Wheel when arguing a point rational thought is needed.

First off you lack the basic concept that creationionism and evolution are mutually exclusive. Second by arguing that intelligent design proves creationism is valid does not prove that intelligenct design exists. Finally you ignore all of the scientific evidence supporting evolution and debunking creationism.

The scientific evidence doesn't debunk creationism as it is theological belief and not a scientific principle. There is loads of scientific evidence that supports evolution.

I would still disagree. Even though uranium dating has an error factor of 1% it proves 6,000 years wrong. The approximate age of the earth is 4.7 billion years. It makes more sense to me to consider evolution. Then the question becomes evolution through chance or evolution through intelligent design. I understand that creationism is a religious belief, but there is no evidence to support it.

Gene, you need to go back to wheels initial post. He said intelligent design proves both creationism and evolution. I believe they are mutually exclusive. You are correct that creationism is a religious belief. My primary point is there is no evidence to support creationism, believing in it is an act of faith. So I think you were expressing exactly what I had.

The problem always seems to be people thanking things too far. I mean I understand and can even respect peoples believes - despite the ones that a far a field - but when people start pushing backwards ideas on others it's time to draw the line.

It's a pretty weak position that anyone's ancient scribblings know more than the whole of science. No wonder the Pope is changing his tune. Smart man . . . .

I typed out a response to this thread twice yesterday. I sent neither, for it either rambled on or it didn't convey my point sufficiently.
Now MACS has summed up my thoughts with such specificity that we need to question if it is not....

Great minds think alike.

And apparently, so do ours.

I think that one of big problems when discussing Evolution vs. Creationism is that they are each in two different fields of study. You have a better chance of explaining LOVE using mathematics then you do explaining creationism using science. fog

The question I have about creationism is if we were made from dirt, why do we still have dirt?
