dang this thread sure evolved since i last visited

things i agree with: 1) cruz comes off as sleazy and the little jabs his campaign is making doesnt help that
2) bernie is consistent in his desire to raise taxes and redistribute wealth but, imo, that doesnt make it the correct path for our country (consistently wrong is still wrong)
3) hilary embodies everything that is wrong with washington and our ruling class and both sides of the aisle should be in agreement of that
4) trump is a narcissist and a popularist - not sure how anyone can trust anything he says (i sure dont - doesnt mean he is lying but not sure why we should assume he is truthful)
5) rubio is the new choice for the establishment - nuff said

it is called Judeo-Christian tradition for a reason, but I have lost count how many times I have read (including on these forums) that the Jews do not have a Bible.

Hey Christian Dudes...it's called The Prequel! J/K...the Old T is the only Bible the Jews accept...they figure God needed no editors.

but the rewrites feature:
the NT

Then the Koran

Then the Book of Mormon AKA Ooops, not St. Louis, westward ho

Then a thousand David Koresh type rewrites.

Most describe horrible ways to treat people and wonderful ways to treat people...including love your enemy. I lean toward the love.

edit: Feel the Bern...I'm in Doc.

BTW, it's free TUITION to state schools. Tax supported state schools. Around here that's like a few bucks.

Well...lookie look who did their homework!

ThumpUp

Most of the drones are still in the "He's a socialist" camp...I guess they will give up their Federal and state welfare programs that include cash assistance, healthcare and medical provisions, food assistance, housing subsidies, energy and utilities subsidies, education and childcare assistance, and subsidies and assistance for other basic services as well as subsidies of college education, unemployment disability insurance, subsidies for eligible low-wage workers, subsidies for housing, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, pensions for eligible persons and health insurance programs that cover public employees...AND Social Security and MEDICARE!

After all...its all on the books here in the US now anyways!

No...I'm not voting for free stuff. My point is that we already have "socialist " programs that work and shouldn't be privitized. Look at how many GOP candidates want that. You will never get what you paid in under that. They're trying to play 3 card Monte with your money. This whole "he's a socialist " mantra the weak minded are perpetuating is easily cured by doing your own legwork. Don't listen to the media as to what candidate to vote for.

Zrx I'm with you there. It's hypocracy that bugs me. Let's not pretend social security and Medicare are not socialist programs. The I pay in argument is bunk. There is no dirrct relationship between pay in and pay out. Yes to an extent and to a limit pay in impacts payout in ss but it is a redistributive social policy with fundamental issues involving input/output.

Many folks are against all socialist policies except the ones that benefit them.

I agree. My issue with the government as a whole is there is no connection between income and expenditure. They are completely de linked from the top of the pyramid to the lower level work being done. Its illogical and dangerous.

Couple of factors drive that.

One...The Federal Reserve.

Two...We have a printer.

Our money is just a promise we'll pay it back because it's not linked to anything with an intrinsic value...just a promise.

true, like every other country currently
but we still have some credibility globally
we can still kind of afford the interest on our debts
we can still almost afford the medicare/medicaid, welfare, etc benefits on the books

but the projections are awful and im just not sure why increased spending with little to no measurable return (aka increasing the war on poverty, etc) is a good idea. no one, including the poorest of the poor nations, is lifted from poverty by getting "free money," only a growing free economy can do that.
