No, it is my fault, I just suck. Dang lack of self control. Any advice on how to develop self control? Man, my life would be so much better off if I had some...

A bet would have just given me extra incentive...

Not sure what I can do for you, Charles. I attribute mine to some degree to fairly strict parents....and the rest to time in the military.

And maybe the military had more to do with it than my folks....

And maybe the military had more to do with it than my folks....small sample size, but of my three boys, the two that spent time in the service have a heck of a lot more self control/self discipline than the third.

Have you tried tazing him..?? Huh

My primary lack of self control lies with my eating, my lack of working out, my chewing (dip), my attitude and my lusting. I know most on here don't care about the lust thing, but being a Christian, it matters to me.

If I could improve those 5 things I would be so much better off. I have no idea how to develop self control...at least at this point in my life. A little late to join the military...haha

I think that's too much to take on all at once. Try splitting it up, set goals one at a time, think positive. Go for long walks at first and think about the good things you're doing for yourself.

P.S.
Lusting is okay IMO

The lust thing is something I will always deal with and the attitude...eh who cares..haha...so if I could just eat better, workout and quit chewing that would be awesome!

Plus, my mental state (anxiety/depression) has been doing really good...so at least one positive thing I got some control over.

Many people struggle with lust, including many many born again Christians (especially males). Heck, even a very high percentage of pastors admit to it. Doesn't make it right but you should know you aren't alone.

The fact that you feel bad about it should be evidence to you that the Spirit is working on you. Much better than feeling only emptiness. Sexual desire is completely normal. If you believe we are created then it is no accident that we are designed to experience pleasure in many forms. It's abeautiful thing. However, we are not to be a slave to our bodies and we are called to strive for holiness.

There is literally nothing you can do that can't be forgiven. Start there and keep working at it. Try not to beat yourself up too much. We are all messy creatures.

My suggestion is to not worry so much about the lust thing ... knock off the chew, then focus on getting your diet and exercise under control so you'll have a chance with the babes you lust after ... once you begin to connect and maybe even score, you'll be motivated to work on other forms of 'control' ...

I left work at noon, and I am exhausted.

Went to the bank, bought ice and squid, dropped off/picked up uniforms, got the boat, cleaned it, ran the engine, prepped all my gear (smoked a party short while doing it), then cut up some frozen sardines for chum, cut up the squid for bait and bagged the innards for more chum... Done.
