Like his choice of words or NOT.....they ARE Sh*tholes.

When did honesty begin to take such a beating in our country? When did it become more important to " sugar coat " the truth?

And which of these but-thurt keeps leaking EVERY WORD that hurts their tender sensibilities from otherwise private meetings?

No spin needed.

I have to assume that you are correct on this.
You're obviously an expert on s hitholes seeing that you live in Southern Indiana.

Not sure why you think I live in S IN.....I don't and even if I did...is that a determining factor of intelligence? You implying it does....shows your clear lack of any intellect yourself. Like I said...enjoy your chit-hole and your city's historical corruption.

This has nothing to do with honesty. Trump's comment was mean-spirited and lacked diplomacy and human decency. If he wasn't OUR most important diplomat it wouldn't matter. But unfortunately he is, and it does.

I applaud anyone who'd dare "leak" his privately held prejudices.
Maybe he'll check himself next time. Lol.

This wasn’t leaked. It was said in a meeting with congressmen that was in no way secret or off the record. To focus on that is to avoid or worse condone the message.

I understand where your coming from but the press wasn't there and there was no real reason to make this " off the record comment " public. I don't disagree he could've chosen his words better....but this wasn't @ a public address speech. Perhaps he should've known better if for no other reason than butt-hurts on both sides would throw this out there. A NOTHINGBURGER until made public.

Hell I'd be the first to admit we have some sh*tholes here as well, everyone knows that too.

This was not an off the record comment and everyone in the room should have pushed back at the time.

There should be more sunlight not less. This type of thinking isn’t better as long as it’s behind closed doors.

Nothing wrong with calling a sh*thole a sh*thole... lots of places are sh*tholes... Los Angeles is a sh*thole... it's overrun with gangs, homelessness, graffiti, traffic, pollution, movie stars, horrible smells, unsightly ghettos, the list goes on and on... if someone asked me tomorrow, "hey you wanna vacay in Los Angeles or Haiti or Tijuana?" I'm guessing my knee jerk response would be "why would I wanna go to any of those sh*tholes?"

This actually doesn't bother me a whole lot. A little... but compared to the rest of his presidency.... meh.

What bothers me most is his poor logic. The Orange moron is complaining because so many people who come to the USA do so from countries which are worse off than the usa.... and whining that not enough people come to the USA from countries which (by a huge number of quality of life metrics) have a better standard of living than the usa.

That shows a complete lack of critical thinking.

I happen to agree with much of Trump's immigration policy (not the wall). I think his choice of words here was very poor but it's Trump we're talking about. People should be far more outraged by his actions than his words...like his healthcare failure...removal of internet-privacy...repeal of net-neutrality...his tax bill...surveillance bill...etc.

It's a weird thing to be outraged about, the sh*thole comment... but the fact that he wants less people coming to America from sh*tholes than from economically advantaged countries is bizarre...

It would've been nice to hear something like "of course people from Haiti wanna come to America, Haiti is a sh*thole... let's talk about ways of de-sh*thole-ifying Haiti so that those poor Haitians have no reason to want to leave their home country... and also we should talk about Indiana..."

I mean... don't get me wrong, if a president who we actually had expectations of reasonableness from, like Bush or Obama, said that...I'd be much more bothered.

It's a sign of how much Trump has lowered our own expectations for the office of president. It's like we're watching a fat kid do a pull up.... if he doesn't manage to do it, we aren't too disappointed. And we get super excited when he successfully does one.... something which would be a normal expectation for a normal person.

I believe the point is the poor logic behind it.

If you live in Norway, a country with a better standard of living than the US (across a number of metrics), you're not likely to want to move to the US. If you live in Chitmenistan, or Indiana, where the standard of living is lower than the US (across a number of metrics) you're very likely to want to move to the US.

If trump wants more immigrants than Norway, then he needs to work to make the country more appealing to live in than Norway, not just whine.

While victor is getting excited about fat schoolboys, we should be talking about WHY the Presidents comments were bad even considering his history of lacking a filter when speaking.

This wasn't a closed door private meeting.
Using such strong language leaves zero room for compromise, which is what a negotiation is supposed to evolve around.

A lot of charitable hours have been spent trying to help the poor people of Haiti (for instance). Hearing the President dismiss it with one breath is more than disheartening, it's the thing that revolutions are based on.

I don't usually care about hurt feelings or being politically correct (I know. Gasp!).
This is about respect.

The same thing that would be wrong with having a more diverse charitable giving policy...

Say a young women with small children is in front of you at the grocery check out and she's come up short money-wise and she's scrounging through her purse looking for more money and having the clerk remove items to bring the total down... so you say hey, not only am I gonna cover the amount you're short, I'm gonna take care of the whole thing... lets say it's $200...

Now let's say you're at the same grocery store and Bill Gates is in front of you... he's also buying $200 in groceries and you also decide to cover his tab...

Which action made a greater difference in the world?

I think we can all agree that Indiana is a lost cause, but there are 195 countries in the world and we only seem to focus on a small number of those. And I'm not just talking about where they come from but who we're taking. I'm not looking for a massive overhaul but some tweaks are needed in my opinion.

Paying Bill Gates would have a much bigger impact.
I mean, what if you weren't there to cover the bill and he starved to death?
Then all his charitable organizations would stop.

Just sayin.

I guess the tourism numbers for the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and adjacent parts of NY/NJ are gonna plunge, except for Norwegians going for a test drive...

I'm sure Norway is full of good people, now that a person like Anders Brevik, who shot up an island full of teenagers, killing 77, is in custody...

Trump's NY properties just took a hit...did Eric just say "thanks a lot, Dad"...
