Interesting development, Hanks posts have changed significantly after the site upgrade....

I mean... you do realize he was an AI Bot jointly created by cigarbid and K Hansotia to generate activity on the forums and drive up gurkha prices, right?...

Strangely enough after the upgrade he has only been posting quotes from Nietzsche and quantum physics proofs....

huh! I thought I couldn't understand him cuz he was talking pig latin or some other foreign language.

Just got approved to work OT at my old facility (10 miles from home vs 47). Let's see just how much money I can make before fishing season heats up.

So, I bought a bag of Korean barbecue flavored pork jerky at Sam's club.

It's really good.

One more day, then goin to CA.

Gotta pack today. Wife's insisting on only one bag, so I'll probably have to wear a week's worth of clothing in layers to get it there.

Should call the hotel and see if I can ship myself a package. I'd like to bring some of my aged beers, but once wife's packed there's not gonna be room for an approved bottle shipping container in our bag.

Better morning today. Easy drive in to work.

I just came in from watching thoroughbreds train for about a 1/2 hour. The most peaceful type of morning I can think of.

Love the new job.

Who doesn't?! That's why I'm a stay at home dad....

Seriously though, what kind of sweet gig did you end up with that you get to watch thoroughbreds train? Jockey?

I run the purchasing department at the New York Racing Association. My office is currently at Aqueduct Racetrack. I get to watch training in the morning and live racing in the afternoons. Then on to Belmont Park and Saratoga in the summer. My Grandfather started taking me to the track when I was 10 and I loved it ever since. It has nothing to do with betting an everything to do with the sport. The horses and jockeys are amazing and VERY underrated athletes.

What about the fat guys that sit in those ricksha looking things behind the horses? Underrated or over?

I find horse racing to be a thing of beauty... that sounds like a pretty sweet job and one that's right up your alley... congrats!

I never got into harness racing. Always found it weird that they restrict the horses running style and a 200 pound man rides in a cart attached to the horse.

Never been to a racetrack (...I lead a sheltered life out here in Hawaii...).

Working remotely out of home for the next couple days, maybe more. Boss banned me from the office until I get rid of a nagging cough and my voice returns to normal. I put up a fake fight yesterday but was laughing inside while we "discussed" my condition.

feel better, Palama...when are you gonna retire?

BTW: used to enjoy going to the Los Alamitos track (long gone), about 10 miles from home, to watch quarter horses and the harness races. Free admittance. Cool way to spend an evening, even though I rarely wagered.

Agreed. My friends think I am full of crap when I say I would love the sport as much without the betting. Look at Dubai, gambling is illegal they have the greatest most extravagant racing in the world.

Thanks Al. Although I had a NYE cold that lingered for a couple of weeks, at the moment I'm actually not sick. Saw the doctor on Monday and my chest was all clear. Doc said there was nothing to indicate any illness but he suspects I'm allegeric to something at home. With the recent addition of our daughter folks, he could be right. At any rate, he recommended taking Allegra for the next month to see if that works. My voice got shot from all the coughing (...sounds like I've been smoking 3 packs a day for the last 30 years...) so I've been trying to minimize my talking - kinda doesn't work when you're in sales.

As far as retirement, I'm hoping for the end of July but finances have yet to be really worked out. I know we can afford it but the level of comfort still needs to be agreed upon.

What the hell is going on around here? Why does CBid sign me out when I close my browser now? Why did the "check here to stay signed in" box disappear?

Outlook has done the same damn thing... I used to be able to just click the link and be signed in. Not no mo...
