We made it to Ohio.

Was not expecting the lil mountains. Truck handled it well but I was uncomfortable. Not used to elevation changes of greater than 20 feet.

Depends... The rule on the boat is no beer until someone lands a fish, or the captain says so. Monday that was around 7:50 am.

On the days we don't catch fish that early... all I can say is it's a good thing I'm the captain.

I used to have a similar rule for the 1st cigar while golfing. Can't light up until 1st par or better. Had to give that chit up real quick.

I need a sway control hitch. I tow on a plain ball hitch. Fine at 60mph on flat land but if you push over 65mph, or the tow vehicle is tracking slower than the trailer (downhill) sway is an issue.

I mostly stay in the northern half of Indiana up through the southern half of Michigan. Hills and speed are not an issue. But this trip where we met some actual mountains (small, but significant to a flatlander) said I gotta drop some bucks on a proper setup. 6,500lbs flailing about behind the truck is no joke. Had to manually engage trailer brakes several times to straighten out on the downhill sections. My HD pickup usually doesn't care, but at speed with semis rushing, it got hairy. My open car trailer with a 12k gross weight behaves just fine, but the slabsided camper drives the truck a lot more

Zoo tomorrow. Hopefully people were scared off by the forecast of thunderstorms. Current forecast is clear, but yesterday they were still saying storms. I HATE crowds and really wanted to push it back to Monday but wife *might* have things to do Tuesday so gotta stick with it.

It's a good 7-8 hours drive home from here, with the camper, without sway control, with mountain downhill. Not sure I've got the stuff to do it in one stretch. Planning route home through two Indiana state parks but it makes the drive 9 hours. I'm hoping to stop and overnight instead of going straight through.

Entering the world of "smoking".
Just ordered this:
http://www.qvc.com/Masterbuilt-2-Rack-Patio-%26-Portable-Electric-Smoker-with-Rib-Rack.product.K45885.html?sc=PSCH&TZ=EST

I know all you "smoking pros" will probably snicker at this unit, but hey . . . Ya gotta start small, right ?
Besides . . . I can't afford a "real" smoker. *lol* (Yes, Frank. I *lol*ed.) Flapper

I put one of those in my garage. Piped an exhaust stack out the window. I love it, perfect in the winter.

And for the real smoker, you can do some work with a simple kettle charcoal grill.

Accuweather says clear skies till Tuesday

Even clear skies don't mean the drive won't suck. I do not like towing this thing.

I need to do a full overhaul of my truck's front end. I never highway drive the truck without towing, so I just assumed the floating was from the trailer. Did 2 hours unladen and still had a 3" dead zone in steering wheel... also the a/c is dumping condensate water on the floor, and check engine light's on for evaporative emissions. Front brake calipers rattle, so they're worn out of spec for the mounts. Got a few other things too.

Been interest past few days.

Thur, I take a couple of pets to vet and get hit with $450 bill.

Wife falls and fractures right ankle Thur evening. We spend more than a few hours in the ER.

Late Fri, mower repair shop calls and advises the repair bill on the Cub Cadet is going to be $500.

Yesterday, I have my first, my fault fender bender since 1974. One can say I was mayhemed. Pretty sure there goes a $500 deductible.

Today, decided to hunker down and not do sh*t.

Never thought this would happen but looking forward to Mon.

Changing the oil in my truck right now. It's only got 3900 on the odometer, but I know the first oil change always has a lot of wear metals in it, so I want to get it done early. 10.5 quarts of Shell Rotella T6 and a Mopar filter... $94. The dealer, of course, wants $189 for the oil change.

Nope, nope, nope.

Flew up to Seattle last week. The nearly 80 year old father had it in his head he was going to tow a 2ton 1950s automobile down to grants pass Oregon (8hr drive) for a car club gathering this past weekend.

That had disaster written all over it... So I grabbed a last minute flight to Seattle Tues night, drove 8hrs down to the southern edge of Oregon with him, spent Friday and Saturday driving the truck and trailer behind this group of old cars (in case any of them crapped out)... Then Sunday morning another 8 hours up to Seattle (ended up being about 9 with traffic) had him drop me straight off at the airport on the way home and flew back to SF.

Been eating high calorie food and not exercising at all for almost an entire week. I feel like a slob.
