I just hate ticks.
When we were camping I kept feeling tickling in my armpit but then it stopped. Figured it was a skeeter or a fly but finally put my glasses on and it was a damn tick. So grossed out.
Might stop at tractor supply and see if there's a spray concentrate I can load up in my 30g bar sprayer and tow it around the yard. Already loaded up the brush lines and un-mowable areas with roundup to knock down the vegetation.
We use NexGard, which as Victor said, causes the ticks to die. We get it from our vet, for about $15 a month. Stuff works great, just feed the dog a chewable once a month, and your good to go. You do need to get a prescription from a vet, but once you do, you can purchase it from chewy.com.

We used to get Frontline from our vet, that's the stuff you apply to the dog's neck. It worked pretty good too, but was a pain trying to get the her to sit still while applying it. You can get FrontLine from any of the big pet stores, like PetSmart and chewy.com.
