Morning all. Just finished 2 days off. I was able to do most of my fall yard work. Also I explored a few new restaurants near me. One is a Cuban place near me. The pressed Cuban sammich was great. The other is a really eclectic place with a great beverage list, and very unique food. I had pan seared Salmon with an herb rub, creamed spinach, grilled asparagus, and a kale, rhubarb, and swiss chard salad. The woman picked out new sheets, comforter, and so on for the bed room. It looks good. I upgraded the tweeters in my in house speakers, much better high end now. Also added a sound bar to my main TV, went with Bose, magnificent sound balanced to the room. Put the final touches on the restoration of my antique dinning room set. It came out as expected.

So.... I obviously spoke too soon. Or I'm being watched.

I had just mentioned in here a week or so ago that I disliked eating food with the shells on when they are not supposed to be there .... so I got home from the conference last night and the woman's mom had made us dinner.... they were just waiting for me to get home to start, which is really nice of them. Of course it was shrimp pan fried in its shell... So I had to eat it whole.... a few even had egg sacs attached (which was pretty tasty honestly).

Sigh.... ah well. It's not gonna kill me

Dog's on his last days. Just waiting for the vet to call me back.
He's only eaten about a half cup of food Mon and a half cup Tue.

I am getting concerned this is causing a downward spiral... he's not eating which is causing his body to have to start processing muscle mass... this is going to release more proteins in his blood stream which will then do more damage to his kidneys... which makes him less interested in eating.

Poor little guy.

I'm gonna make some more of the Mojo Beef skirt steak I made a while back. Stole the recipe from Chef John of "Food Wishes" and it's phenomenal. Wife loved it.... I couldn't stop eating it. SO good.

Or don't cook them at all.....while living in the Philippines, I was occasionally served 'jumping salad'....which was little more than vinegar, local limes, salt and live shrimp....usually only ordered after a lot of beer had already gone down

Took advantage of the new, nearest Chic-Fil-Aye (30 miles away). Opened three weeks ago. A madhouse.

Yeah. A new Chic-Fil-A We had a new Popeyes open (after the CFA) and it shut down blocks for weeks. A new Portillo's did the same thing in Davenport. Complete chaos.

Where about in fly over country are you?

Love Portillos. Wife'll talk one day about have to eat healthy. The next she'll hit me with, "Wanna go to Portillos?"
Me: but what about healthy?
Her: they have salads there.
Me: just because I have the option does not mean I have the ability. Salads is not why Portillos was handed down to us from the heavens

Yeah... no.
The woman likes the head. I don't generally suck the brains out. And I really don't want to crunch on it

I only like to eat the small to medium sized shrimp whole, with heads, if they are deep-fried in the spicy salted pepper dish (discarding the tail shells, which are used as handles)

there is a Mexican fried catfish dish, bagre, that fries the fish so crispy that the fins, tail and some small bones are crunchy and tasty... this and the spicy salted shrimp use a light dusting of flour/starch before frying, to provide a bit of crusty crunch...
