hurt my lower back playing high school football...had x-rays taken by a very buxom technician, who managed to rub her boobs on me several times while she was directing me to the correct angle and spot for each shot...

the last pose, flat on my back with an obvious protrusion causing the hospital gown to tent was very embarrassing...she noticed and gave me a little smirk...

MY leadership knows that my current team is riddled with problem children. The dipsh*ts were kicked to my team before I ever got there, by a LT on the other end of the work week. I've made it work, but we still have 4-5 call-outs on Sunday. What's the chances of 20% of your team being sick on the same day? 3 out of 4 Sundays?

Anyway... I support my good people. I do not support the lazy-asses and I just got spoken to for not treating everyone the same. YGBFKM (you gotta be fkn kiddin me)

I had the union e-mail my captain with a complaint saying I denied one of my malcontents vacation, and created a hostile work environment. You're fkn right I did... because #1 - the b*tch never signs up for overtime, #2 - she's a lazy POS, #3 - she asked for vacation on Christmas Eve when we already have 12 overtime spots for our sister team to fill, and they already work Christmas.

Nah, b*tch. You're working. Thank God, my LT and Captain supported my decision.

Now her sorry as will call off sick and nothing will be done. Bank on it.

Macs, as a proud union man, that is one thing I hate about the union. It protects the crappy workers. There are people who are late everyday, take a 2 hour lunch all the time (we get an hour) they call off when they get forced on a job, and they are lazy and just not do much cause they know other people will do the work for them, unfortunately we can't just not do the work since it's a crew working and we don't have individual assignments. It makes the good workers mad and makes for a bad working environment. I wish they could be fired, and so does management sometimes but they have openly admitted to me that they don't do anything because it's too much work to do a paper trail to make enough of a case to do anything. We have a strong union and since it's a company only union, and we really can't go too many places unless to another state, they rarely fire people. It's sad really.

That kind of chit makes me crazy. My crew's pretty solid across the board, but I have occasional supervisory duties over another dept also, and there are people I swear work harder at avoiding work than it would take just to do the dam job

The 20 people on my team who come to work and do their jobs appreciate me because I call out the jackasses... it's the jackasses who hate me because I call them on their bullsh*t.

My decisions are sound. My delivery needs work since I am no longer a Senior Chief.

We got a few of them in my unit but not anywhere as bad as other units.

I've got 3-4 of 12 nightshift nurses who are extremely unreliable and never know if they're going to be in. If they have a rough night, good chance they get a headache and leave. Or if they stick it out they call off the remainder of the week because one call off is counted the same against your record as a consecutive stretch of days. And if you show up, clock in, and then leave it's not a call off. Got one that plays that game after getting written up for no call no shows.

Several that put in an awful lot of effort into doing nothing all night.

Management doesn't do anything about it. I've been here 10 years and nobody's gotten anything more than a write up for attendance issues. I've been written up for "bullying" people about their lack of responsibility

Trying to stay up later so I'm not up at 2pm.

It's not working. Gonna delay the inevitable another 10 minutes with a shower, but I'm ready for bed.

Gonna be a wild day at work today. 11 bed unit, 11 patients none up for transfer or discharge. Two open hearts and two smaller surgeries scheduled this morning. All 4 need to come to us. With no open beds. None of them can hang out in PACU, they need to directly to us immediately from the OR table. Usually we'd just pester for transfer orders on the most stable patients. But there's zero beds available in the building. For a month now they've been running double beds in any room big enough to hold two beds. About 50 patients over capacity and at 100% surge cap. Been on bypass (not accepting transfers or non-critical ambulance) for 3 weeks.

So. I don't know what they're gonna do but I'm damn sure glad I work night shift. Hopefully they figure out something (helicopters were flying all night moving people around and still closed out net zero) before I return.

Just glad not one of em dan.

Sounds like they had the same issues as you. I was in icu this days instead of two late felt due to lack of beds. I think I would have had 3 due to afib but the other 2 were no beds.

I could also tell the regular nurses from the hired guns. It was obvious there was a team and then there were the others.

It is really a miracle that there aren't more folks lost. My MIL died not from the surgery, but from infection that set in post of and nobody caught. That is simply inexcusable, and honestly I think the administrators should have attend the funeral of anyone lost at their facilities.

That might drive up the give a damn meter. It might not, but then it would be in the open.
