Theres a local dude with a post war Walther P38/P1 for sale in reasonable condition for a reasonable price. I'm really tempted to pick it up. I had a 1940 P38 but it was one of many in my collection I sold off to buy our house. Sold off my NFA items including a machine gun, and all my WWI and WWII collectible pieces.

This gun isn't as valuable as a prewar sample, but that's what keeps making me think twice about it. I could have that gun back in my collection, same as the one I sold except it's worth a lot less simply because of its serial number. Guy's selling about $100 under market value for a postwar in similar condition. I could shoot it, I could work it and reblue and have a nice old gun back in my safe.

I've slept on it for two days and still want it. I think I'll give it two more and then make a decision if he's still got it listed.

Those are nice pieces and not too many deals on them anymore. If it's in good shape, I'd get it. If you change your mind you can always sell it, but if you miss it and want it...............................................

I've done that too many damned times. d'oh!

Exactly where I'm at. It's not something that comes across my lap that often. He's asking $400 but will do $360 if I drive an hour out to him. That's about $30 in fuel so doesn't help me much, but still $400 is well below closed auction prices on a postwar on gunbroker. Low to mid $500 range seems average for a shooter. This one's a little rough, no visible rust, but the blueing is gone. I'd definitely look into rebluing it. I asked for bore, chamber, and breech face pictures.

If I could get it met halfway at $350 30 minute drive for both of us, I'll do it. Just sent him a PM with that offer. At $350 it's a no brainer. I'd love to have one back in my collection but I'm not really in a position to be rebuilding my collection...

I keep wanting to get a Beretta M9. I know a lot of people dislike that particular gun, but by virtue of me shooting thousands of rounds through it... it just makes sense. It fits my hand perfectly, and I can hit a flea's ass inside 25 yds with it.

I can disassemble and reassemble it with my eyes closed, I know the functions, and having a gun with which you are very familiar and proficient is just smart.

While I grew up with 1911's I liked the Beretta. Always have. I have several of the 92's in different models. I picked a G up a little while back. What I really want is the Brigadier version.

This one, but I just can't drop the coin.

I have two. One SS one blue

Too big for my mitts. Big dude, tiny hands. But they shoot very well and operate smoothly. I like em.

I'm a fan of Beretta overall, which is how they ended up with me. More for brand snobbery than individual merits of the pistol. I've got a lot of Beretta firearms.

Trying several to see which one I want. Favorite was an STI Staccato they had at the range, until I looked up the cost. Leaning towards a CZ SP01 at the moment

I was looking at those but ended up with an AR pistol(s) in 9mm. I found a case of UZI mags for less than a C-note. So I ran them through my mill, cut a new slots for the mag latch and opened them up for bolt clearance and now they work great in the AR platform. Good to go for a long time. BigGrin

Gotta interject. A good friend owns and operates SDS Import. The 1911's they are bringing in are world class. For what he's asking I've got a couple coming. They run great. And David's a stand up guy that doesn't cut corners.

Full hearted recommendation with no reservations. Beer

(The website isn't up to date on all the current models. They are active on Facebook though.)

Exploring 9mm currently. But given my level of self control and iron will, who knows what kind of arsenal I'll end up with

Prepped stuffed mushrooms yesterday but didn't cook until a little while ago.. used spicy sausage and jalapeno cream cheese.. along with about 5 other cheeses... damn good.. . Not sure i can duplicate it but I'll try again and maybe write it down... letting them sit overnight might be the trick... Mellow

9mm I have a Glock (go ahead and give me crap) my wife is wanting a Kimber special edition 9mm, she wants to sell her 38 special stub nose. The only 1911's I have shot are 45. And for sds imports, I have never shot them. But now you have me mad at you as now I have to go get one and that takes away money from cigars.... HahaFrying pan Frying pan Brick wall Brick wall

They're under 4 bills. I couldn't believe when I was told what they would sell for. When I asked him why, he said we'll sell a bazillion at that price point. I think he's right.

They have a 9mm as well. BigGrin

I tried a few of the Glocks. Decent, but I really prefer a metal frame. The polys just don't feel right for me.

Grip angle is wrong, too many rounds through 1911's to change now.

Same here.

I appreciate the Glock for what it is. It's really an incredible piece of machinery and the manufacturing behind it to keep the cost incredibly low for the quality, the whole endeavor is mind boggling.

But like you said, the shooting angle doesn't work for me. I have a few, and I'm sure I'll get a few more. But I don't carry them. Blind point drills leave them pointing way high.

I’ve caught it. On the boat that Zrx crashed and sunk I had my stainless 75b, a pre b, a scorpion, a 473 .22 with trigger work etc. I sure wish Zrx hadn’t lost them in the ocean.

The stainless 75 is my favorite though.... no recoil and drives nails. Take down is simple and cleaning is no issue. Love love love it,..... I mean until Zrx lost it.

That's a nice piece too. I used to run some CZ's when I was shooting a lot of IPSC. Loved them.

I had a VZ.61 at one time. It went down on a ship as well. Somebody needs to do something about safety for Mariners. There as been an awful lot of fine vessels and goods lost at sea lately. Woot

Lightning strike during the Villa-Leicester game. The commentators made a comment about it and the accompanying downpour and everybody went on with their day. Gotta love the Brits and their stiff upper lip attitude. If it was a pussified NFL game, the stadium would be cleared, breathless annoucnements about nothing is more important than fans being safe would be the result.

Get off of my lawn!
