Mine has ssn...never concerned me...and nobody has said anything

I was at the id lab yesterday to get mine re-laminated. They told me when I came in to get my wife's new card they needed to make me a new one as the law had changed. SSN's are out, service numbers are in. LOL "I have a service number?" Evidently we do. Who knew? Think

All my gas purchases go through my discover card.

Was looking at the year end summary, $4380 in gasoline last year.

Maybe it would make sense to buy a $3k Honda Fit beater for commuting. Would pay for itself in two or three years maybe. But then there's additional insurance and upkeep costs. Really only need the truck for towing, which is about 7-8k miles of the 14-16k a year I drive. I think a cheap beater could halve my annual fuel bill.

Sent out a bunch of text messages to my gridlife friends.

Buddy has a 5 speed 97 Honda civic for $800. Heat works, and he's been driving it 90 miles a day to work for three months without issue. Needs shocks, which I can do myself and probably have a set in the shed, I know I had a set, don't know if I scrapped em though.

Gonna pick up a double time shift tonight to pay for it. Then it can pay for itself in a couple months.

Work called me around noon asking for help tonight. I asked if they were paying double time, they said no, so I answered the same.

Got another call around 2pm saying double time was approved for tonight, so I said I'd take a nap and call in closer to start time to avoid getting floated to another unit. If that happens, there's no double time, since it's not part of the original approval, but you've signed up for extra hours so you're the first to float. So it's not in your best interest to say yes right off the bat.

I called in at 6pm after a brief nap, they said they got someone to cover till 11p but would need help at double time rate at 11. I still wouldn't sign on, but said I'd go back to sleep and call in around 10.

Called in at 10 and they said they could manage but, I could get double time to float to another unit. FUXK that. I just slept my evening away to try to help out after multiple calls and texts. Glad I stuck to the "we'll see" rather than a yes...

Could always use the money, but I'm only going to hurt myself to save my home team. Other units can go F themselves. If I'm scheduled and floated, that's fine, I get it, and I appreciate the help when we get people to float to us when things are tight. But I'm not gonna come in on my day off to go to another unit.

I'm gonna drink a lot of beer and play videogames / watch TV instead. Beer
