Your mistake was using an Apollo to show off. Think I was able to do 0-60 in about 15-20secs. Only thing it was good for was eating gas. Which is ironic since I believe Buick released he Apollo as a "compact" for better gas mileage

Dad bought the V8, 350. Dunno if it was the 2 or the 4 barrel version. Gas mileage wasn't so good...felt it in the wallet, especially during the gas embargo.

I remember mine was a V8 but don't recall the size. Got it with 1600mi on it 16yrs after production. The traditional little old lady's car, rarely driven. The age probably didn't help, but only got 8mpg out of it

Wife did our taxes. Woohoo, we didn't owe. She is trying to take over some of her dad's clients for tax season. He is looking to downsize his clients as he is looking to retire soon. Hopefully she can take over the whole business.

1600 miles? Sheesh, talk about driving it only to church and back!

I bought a ‘68 Road Runner in ‘75 and on a good day, oil / filter changed, new spark plugs, timing adjusted, new air filter, tires overinflated, washed and waxed, I could get 11 miles a gallon. The Apollo got slightly more, 14 iirc.

You and me both. He’s called the insurance company, has an adjuster calling him back on Tuesday. Tomorrow he’s calling and making an appointment for the mechanic to see about the drivability of the car.

If he gets even remotely irritated/edgy during the process, the next lever I pull is have him look up minimum sentencing guidelines for involuntary manslaughter sentencing in Wisconsin. It will remind him how blessed he’s been.

Morning guys.
First car was a '69 Cutlass Supreme with a 350 Rocket motor. I ended up throwing a rod and that made the car a total loss. Gas was something like $1.50 a gallon back then during the Oil Embargo of the mid-70's.

Anyhow, I am waiting for the screen repair guys to show up to fix my pool screen. Can't wait to see what this will cost...

This one time, at band camp......

I won't go into all the details but my most spectacular car crash was in my 1960 MGA at about 2am. Flew over an irrigation ditch and landed 20 feet out into a watermelon patch. Cop didn't even give me a ticket. He said I wasn't the first but I flew the farthest.Angel

They must be doing some testing on the forum for a way to get rid of the bot.

I noticed if you click on the forum from the main page it doesn't load (goes through an https connection which seems to no longer be working.)... change it to a http connection and it works.

I'm assuming they're fiddling to see what it will take to interrupt the the rlaw-bot.

It seems to have shifted the past couple days from posting at 10:30 (ish) to posting at 5(ish) (Eastern time)....

Wonder why. Whole thing seems to be automated, create an account, login, post a thread in each forum available, put the same text in each thread.... create a second account, repeat.

There's gotta be a good way to interrupt that.

Even something as simple as extending the delay between posts (I thinkit's 15 seconds or so now?) to a minute or something.

Not sure what is needed to post here, but on the site I administrate I have put a stop on all registrations which go into a moderated queue until approved. Ratwalagus would never get in twice. We also have the option to auto moderate certain words or urls by substituting stars for all characters (I think you could do that) should they use different names or IPs. We also had a program that could specifically report any multiple registrations from the same computer. We had a cracker jack programmer.

The Navy finally got around to sending me my "official" retirement certificate... 2 and a half years after the fact. I got it in the mail today.

September 1, 2017... moved from the "fleet reserve" to the "retired list".
